Get them at the store where you want to work. If you want to work at one of the major pet chains, the have info about "careers" on the websites & you can find store locations near you. Good applications will ask about your experience in taking care of animals (and what type) - these are the ones that care a little about the animals they sell and will be able to answer customer questions. You may not have to have animal experience for all jobs (cashier/stocking), and you can work with the animal staff to learn the animal care part (be prepared to clean a lot of fish tanks and animal bedding in the meantime!).

If there's nowhere on the application that specifically asks about your animal experience/knowledge, this store is probably only out to sell "product" and doesn't provide proper care for animals or info about what they sell.

If you have a number of places in your area, check them out first. If you can smell the animals/fishs before you can see them, RUN!
