Milkbones. Honest, it's how I came up with this ID. However, I get the smallest ones I can and break them in half. Even though she is a doberman I dont want a fat dog, and snacks like this are high in calories. Also, an occasional rawhide, no flavored one, just white ones, only about once a month or less. Dogs don't know when to stop eating.

I have 2 Great Danes whom both are over maximum age and still in 100% health. The best treat that any dog could receive is your praise and love. Occasionally they get a bone or biscuit, but not for praise. There are many other treats available that have dental and orthopedic qualities in them. In order to help maintain your dog's health, minimal fatty/junk treats will help prevent many medical conditions (eg. obesity, diabetes, arthritis...........). Relate your animals to children. Would you give a child a treat every time it does something good? If you did what do you think would happen? Every soul requires love and affection and that feels a lot better than snacks.

I have been told that treats aren't good for your dog. That having been said, I spoil my babies rotten with every kind of treat in the dog aile, except for the green chewies that are supposed to be dental chews. That green stuff builds up in their intestines, or so my friend (who paid through the nose to have the intestines cleaned out surgically) has told me.
I give one a day to each of my dogs of one of the followiing:
Chew lottas (hard bone style chews)
rawhide treats
lamb chewies
bacon flavored sticks
Liva snaps
Chicken jerky
I never give my dogs real bones. They are small dogs and cannot fully digest them, the bones splinter and the splinters get stuck in their intestines, requiring surgery to remove the intestines that are pinholed from the splinters.
I don't know if this happens with large dogs.
If we are talking human food, my dogs love string cheese, they get one every day and they process it very well.
They also like the boiled yolk of an egg.
I make my own dogfood so I compensate for the effects certain human foods have on animals.
I can't deny my babies anything. They love rack of lamb.

Every time they go out and do their duties they get a treat when they come in. I usually give them YiP Yaps. They are mint dog bones that freshen their breath and clean their teeth. The treats are small only about 1/2 inch. Sometimes I give milk bone dog biscuits.

I usually give my dog small peices of people food. Crackers, Combos, 2 peices of chocolate a month. Things that won't hurt him to eat. Dog treats....."Canine Carry outs" at walmart. They're like, .97 cents. And they have alot of different flavors, and they're pretty soft. So they're good for puppy training, or clicker training.
My dog doesn't like thing likes the rawhides, or the big chew bones. Don't ask, he's been like that for a long time. You'd think he would be, seeing how he's half pit. He'd rather chew on my clothes, or my kids crayons lol.
If you don't want to worry about anything special, just get regular snack bones at walmart or k-mart. You don't need anything special. Dogs don't worry about anything like that. They focus on the fact that they're getting them lol.
If your dog likes them, give them healthy things like grapes, or oranges. Things that they would normally get, if there were no such thing as technology. Things they'd find on the ground would be fine. Be careful with giving them people food though. The wrong kind can make them sick, to much can make them sick, and make them fart alot, and stink really bad, and not enogh can make them think that they need more, or they're not behaving the right way.

I usually give mine Milkbones, or MarrowSnacks I believe they're made by Pedigree, my dogs dig those, and since most dogs dont know when to stop eating (they'll eat til they explode), Instead of giving them more food than they need, they love rawhide bones. Nothing else (well, aside from their own food later on) lol. If they had thier way they would eat anytihng and everything lmao.
Good luck!!

I look for treats made of quality ingredients that are less likely to cause allergic reactions or choking hazards for my dogs. Cubed cheese, slices of hot dogs or boiled chicken are great treats, Raw meaty bones are perfectly safe for dogs too. However, any cooked or smoked bones can be cause of major problems as they can splinter. Kibble and jerkey meats are great too. Plain yogurt mixed with peanut butter and frozen in cubes are a favorite as are banana and the mini carrots.

A piece of carrot or a chunk of apple. He also enjoy's the occasional orange segment. He is fed high quality foods and most of the 'dog treats' on the market are NOT good quality.
