I was wondering if anyone knew the gene that makes zebra have stripes?

I was just wondering, technically, what color would a zorse with a seemingly bay base coat be? Would it be a dun because of the primitive markings, or something else?

My cat has always sucked my earlobe ever since he was a kitten, he does not like to do it to anyone else but me. He kneads my neck at the same time which kinda hurts but i dont mind.

Does anyone know why he does this? Does anyone elses cat do this?

I found this cage at PetSmart and my question is...
The decription says:Top opening allows your bird on top of the cage to play. Does this mean the top opening is ALWAYS open? Or can you open it and close it whenever? Here is the pic of the cage. READ REVIEWS!!!

She seems confused, and isn't getting into "position" to feed them. She keeps just moving around them like she doesn't know what to do. Now she has separated 2 from the other 2.. she lets me and my mom touch them. We don't know why she keeps separating them.

Anyone know anything about newborn kittens and the mommies?

My husband and I have a 6 lb Chihuahua/Pomeranian mix. He just turned a year old last month and we have had him since he was 3 months old. Ever since he was about 5 months old and on he has hated other people and dogs. He will bark uncontrollably and is just very nasty. We can't have anyone over to our house because he will bark non-stop and nothing we have done has helped. We have tried having the visitor give him a treat, but that does not work. Is he beyond hope or is there something we can do. I realize that this is probably our fault since he was not very well socialized as a puppy. He came from a home where he lived with his sister, mom and dad, so he has lived with other dogs before. Is this a breed thing? I have had another small dog in the past that was the same mix and he was not like this. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

My mom wants to get a dog. We were at the park recently where she met a French Bulldog and it was love! Very friendly dog. Mom is in her early 60's, in good health, she lives in a condo. I want to buy her a Fr. Bulldog for her birthday. Is this a good breed for her? Are they hard to come by and are they very expensive?

My three-month-old Yorkie just completed her shots and can go outside now. My concern is that, although she has a coat, that its still too cold for her..what is your opinion?

the swelling is worse and our vet appointment isn't until the 23rd of Jan. Any suggestions what occured with him?He is not in pain or anything -anyone come across this with their dog? any way of getting swelling down until we get to the vet? I tried a cold piece of metal similiar to what is used in boxing.I can press on it and he shows no type of discomfort.

Is this to do with his diet?... He was eating tripe and this had a similar effect...so i put him on burns minibites and they helped but my OH wont feed him this without adding tinned dog meat... I think this is what is causing the problem... (he has tesco's/morrison's own).

Are there any tinned meats designed especially to condition the dog's coat? or any other things that I can mix to the biscuits that will help?

(He's a long-coat chihuahua btw)

it looks bad again. I looked on-line and what I saw, I didn't like...cancer. He is only 3 mo. old tho!! I took him in for a visit at the vet, it was healing over at that time and she said it looked fine. I'm worried, any insights?

do animals actually say something when they "cry" or do they just make noise but it means something (eg: a cat can mew if it wants to go out but is it saying 'let me out' or making a sound signalizing that it wants to go out)?
I don't know if you understand what i'm trying to ask or not but i really hope you do...

I have adopted my daughters dog, he was ill-treated early in life, not when my daughter had him but before that. Because of this abuse he does'nt like people either out for a walk or coming to the door. He shakes with fear and barks very loudly, which is good for burglers and such like but not my friends. It has put people off coming to see me as he frightens them. I try to calm him down but it takes ages. I really want to do this right as I abhor any violence to animals. Anyone got any ideas or gone through the same thing.

I'm asking this, since Marshall is superneedy and wants to be petted 24/7, along with having full freedom, since we let him (and Wylie) have it on Monday. Is there a way, so I can get my writing and work done, when we both be satisfied? Wylie is needy, but have taken strident steps to go outside of the room and even to mine. Until both cats can get along, (for we're pushing them this weekend, before we make a decision soon, depending on how this weekend goes), they'll have partial freedom. The most I've given Marshall is 4-6 hours before I need downtime for myself. I know he loves me and wants to be with me. I love him and want to be with him too. But not all the time. I yelled at him yesterday, because he wanted more last night, for he had enough. (Yesterday morning he escaped into my room, since he was making racket and gave me bad sleep.) He was ticked and left me after my visit with him and Wylie in the room. But things are sort-of okay now, even when he cried this morning.

We both work days. I usually leave by 9:30 am and my husband is usually home by 5 pm. We are both very laid back people who are just looking for a companion to fit our personalities. We do not have any kids right now but it is a possibility for the future. Any advice?
