You should call the Vet ASAP and have your dogs checked out. If the mama doesn't have enough teats (nipples) then some of the weaker pups will probably get shoved out of the way and not get any nourishment. Make sure she drinks lots of water.
Also, 8 pups for a Chi is probably a world record, so call Guinness. My Chi had four pups 17 years ago and people were amazed by such a large litter.

Wow, I've never heard of a chihuahua having more than 5 puppies in a litter. I would just keep an eye on them and make sure all of them are eating. If they are, then the mom will take care of feeding them for now. Make sure mom is getting a high quality food. Mom and babies also really need to be checked out by the vet, just to make sure they are all doing ok. Congrats on the babies!

Their mother can feed them. (Dogs have 8 teats aka nipples, some have 10) Unless Mom isn't able to feed them, or one of the puppies isn't feeding on it own, there is no need to interfere.
Enjoy the lil miracles of life!
8 is an awful lot for a chihuahua!!!!
Feed the mother good quality puppy food and give her lots of water.
Go to vet, make sure everyone is OK.

You should not have to assist the mother any unless her milk production gets low or some of the pups begin having problems. If they do then check out this link that descibes how to tube feed puppies you can also search articles for taking care of orphaned pups. It is a useful link for all sorts of pet issues so save it to your favorites list for reference.
Good Luck

As long as all the puppies are nursing, leave them alone. They need this first milk for the colostrom to help keep them healthy. If some of them seem to not be getting enough, let half of them nurse and then let the other half nurse. Kind of like taking turns.

she would not have greater puppies in there. in many situations chihuahuas have a million-7 puppies. in many situations its 2-5 is the customary. it may desire to be her bowels moving so take her and the puppies to the vet. supply them a family members verify up.
