the swelling is worse and our vet appointment isn't until the 23rd of Jan. Any suggestions what occured with him?He is not in pain or anything -anyone come across this with their dog? any way of getting swelling down until we get to the vet? I tried a cold piece of metal similiar to what is used in boxing.I can press on it and he shows no type of discomfort.

Call you Vet, and tell then that it has got worse, and that he needs to come in before the 23rd.

Do NOT wait until the 23rd. Either go to an emergency vet or call your own vet and tell them you need to have the dog looked at now.

Would you wait to go to the doctors on the day you have scheduled for a routine exam if you suddenly had the symptoms of bronchitis or strep throat?

i think you need to ask the vet to see him sooner than the 23 because it could be serious. if he is not avalable ask if there is anyone else who knows what they are doing who could help you with it over the phone or if they could come see the dog. make sure you explain to the secretary that you dont know whats wrong with the dog. dont do anything that could possibly even the slightest bit, hurt your dog if someone on Yahoo andswers tells you to because very few people on Yahoo answers are qualified vets... be careful and i hope your dog gets better!!

A snake bite will swell like that. I think I'd get him in and get him checked before the appointment.
