I have a pet rat that's about 2 years old and has a tumor under his right arm about the size of a marble and its growing fast. Its not time to do the deed yet but some day in the not so far future he will need to be put to sleep (killed). No signs of pain yet.

Thing is I can't afford to take him to the vet. Whats the best way to get this done at home? I'd like it to be clean and painless.

I like to buy a lot of clothes for my dogs, and other dog friends. I wouldn't mind if there was a quantity discount as I usually buy large quantities anyway. I know of lovelonglong already.

I've seen alot of people answering puppy questions saying that puppies are too young at 6 weeks old to adopt out. Since when? This must be a new-fangled thought in the breeders' world. I suppose you are the same people that have decided that whipping your kids when they're bad is not the "proper" way to handle them. I have three dogs, all taken at six weeks, and they're perfectly fine!

My Hamster was due yesterday, the 16th day. I gave her everything, bedding, tissue, extra food, and a dark quiet place. Is she late or is there something wrong?

He will have spells where it sounds like he's snorting or something but its really fast and he's trying to like breathe through his nose but he can't. His ears will also go back and he looks like he's scared. Then after about 4 or 5 minutes he's better. Does anyone know whats wrong with him.

Hey! I'm doing a research project on guide dogs and i have to find stories about how guide dogs have SAVED THEIR OWNERS LIFES. The problem is that my computer is broken down, and I'm writing this whole Yahoo thing on my cell phone. For some reason, no search engines (google, msn, etc.) will work on my cellphone, and I can only go to direct links. So if anyone could find links to websites with stories about how guide dogs have SAVED THEIR OWNERS LIFES, or other cool stories that are "amazing", could you please post the link here?? Thank you soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm taking a poll and we can figure it out. Please answer with the breed of each of your dogs (assuming it's not a cross breed). Then we can tally and fingure it out. I have a Golden.

She won't keep it indoors and it poops in the hallway of our apt. complex, usually in front of my door. When she does let it out she doesn't have a flea and tick collar on it and just leaves it out all night and day. I live in New York by the way. I have talked to the landlord and he said to report her the next time I see it. My girlfriend has already had a run in with her and it ended up in accusations of landlord tattling. I don't want to be the guy who tells on everyone because I'm new to the complex. What do I do?

She's ok when I leave, just sits looking out the window, but when I get the kids' jackets on and ask them " are you ready", the dog goes nuts. It's not possible to take her with me all the time. She won't calm down and I'm fed up shouting at her to shut up. As I say, she's ok when I leave. She doesn't bark all day. I've not had her since a pup, although I've known her for 10 years. She was my mums' dog and I've inherited her. Why does she hate us leaving, switching the lights off, putting jackets on and switching the TV off? She's driving me mad, the whole street can hear her!

I have a six month old pekekingnese / shi tzu mix. I have already asked a quesion here: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ag_Rvn3EeWWVuZMomkLxBO7sy6IX?qid=20061220205352AAV1Est which includes the ingredients. I am going to get him something like Innova for his food. But at this point I only have Royal Canin and Natural life (again I have listed the ingredients on the other question) I need to know which one would be better of the two. I cannot get a new food until next week and he is on a special food right now for a medical reason that I need to start weening him off of.

As much as I hate to keep switching his foods around, I don't really see any other option. But, I plan to get the better one soon.

So which would be the best for him until I can get the new food?

Also, even though I want to give him a good food, if I give him some treats once and a while and for training, will that defeat the purpose? I assume the aren't a great quality either.

Thanks!!!

My dog has had pretty bad diarrhea since she's been in heat. Is this normal? Is there anything I can do for her?

I have three dogs.
One is about..80 pounds.
The other is like 120, and the last one is about 130.
I feed them snacks in the morning, and then feed them dinner in the afternoon, but I'm worried that they might still be hungry and that i'm not feeding them enough times in the day.
How much should I feed them? And how often to make sure they stay healthy and full.

We just adopted a Collie this past weekend. He's young, I'm guessing around a year old. He's a great dog, has already learned how to sit and lie down, but we are having one problem. He LOVES to nip and mouth, all the time. I know this is a puppy thing, but will he outgrow it??? I can't stand it! Any advice?

My kitten has just been spayed and the vet gave me one of those plastic cone collars to stop her licking the wound. I could not get it on so I took her back and the vet put it on for me. As soon as I got her back she went mental and got the collar off! I phoned the vet and they said that she MUST wear the collar because she may infect the wound or even worse pull out the stitches! What can I do as this is stressing us both out !!???

I use a shampoo for dogs with sensitive skin but the shampoo smell is horrible. I live abroad a lot of the time and she is always running around outside and getting filthy. She hates being showered but the 'doggy' smell can get really strong. She is on hormone injections to stop her coming on heat (she was a street dog and routinely 'sterilised' but the ovaries remain - if that makes sense. Could these injections cause the 'doggy' smell? I have never had a dog before so don't know what is 'normal'.
