I think they understand our emotions and that we are feeling but as far as to why we are feeling what we do I don't think so. I seriously doubt they understand our behavior.

Dogs have the intelligence of a toddler and can learn the meaning of 100 words or so. The smartest breed seems to be the Border Collie.

That's a VERY vague question.
Dogs understand pack behavior. Alpha, etc etc Omega. That's why we as humans have to be trained on how to train a dog.

Dogs understand words that they hear over and over! For example, like walk, dad, car ride, bath!

Yes, but we miss a lot of what they communicate back. Learn about this stuff from Cesar Millan, the Dog Whisperer. See website referenced below.

They understand better than most people do. My Lab knows exactly what I am feeling and responds accordingly. He also knows 75 different words and commands. He listens better than my nephews and boyfriend.

I think they do, not in a language kind of way (conversation exchange) but in routines, they know their name, they know when you say "no" and when you feel sick they seem to know.
They can sense when you are exited, angry or mad. I think that dogs understand people more than we think!
