My mother has cats and I suspect she secretly likes the fact that they're vicious and go for the eyes of prey or attackers.. Is she just plain weird or do any other cat owners like this particular trait??!!

My hamster is long haired and it lives in wood chips. Everytime I get it out I have to pick off little wood chips so my bed won't be itchy. Should I get styrofoam? Or will it choke itself if it bites and eats some?

In my county I can shoot woodpeckers. Now my question is can you eat them. Cause most small birds if you eat them it gives you a disease.

My husband left his shoes outside and a cat pissed in them. What can I use to get rid of the smell? Why do cats love to pee in shoes?

I have a 6 month old miniature pinshcer and she weights 10lbs and already has most of her adult teeth in. The vet as well as my grandmother who is very knowleageble about min pins stated that small dogs are not full grown until they're at least 1 year old.
Based on that information I know about min pins I feel that for her to be 10lbs @ 6 months is kind of big. Unless she starts leveling off at this age and just finish growing in her body (if you get what I am saying). Anyone who has small dog and/or min pin what was your experience like when you had your dog as a puppy growing wise. Thank you.

I've looked at other questions, but I still can't decide. What would you pick? What are price differences? If you take them out of their cage, can they get away if the room isn't "chinchilla/guinea pig proof"? Are they friendly? How active are they? I have a hamster, but that won't really affect my choice. And getting a chinchilla might be hard where I live, so should I try to find one, or just go with guinea pig? I mean, it's not that I want one more than the other, I just can't decide.

Why do breeders of a breed that is normally cropped insist on cropping the ears rather than leaving it up to the new owners?

No "oh that's cruel and inhumane" replies are necessary. I AM PRO CROP & DOCK !!!

I am currently catsitting a Bengal cat that is a 10 yrs old fixed male. He's 15 pounds. He is absolutely nasty and won't let me pick him up. I have to bring him to the vet and I don't know what the best method to get him into the carrier because he will hiss and swat at me when I get close to him. I have a petite frame and quite honestly, this cat scares the bejeezus out of me. I have also been told that when placed in a carrier, the cat gets nervous and has no control over bodily functions. I'm really not looking forward to having to uproot the kitty, but it's gotta be done. Any ideas, suggestions on a safe & non-traumatic method (for both myself and the cat)?

We have to take our cat from north carolina to connecticut, then back again in two weeks. Does anyone have any advice? all the kennels are booked and all our friends are also going on vacation. The cat has been on like, hour long drives at the most, both in and out of the crate. How do you deal with a twelve hour drive? What do I do as far as the litterbox goes? I'm not looking forward to this at all! And we are leaving tonight, so no time to get sedatives.

I've been told that there are over 400 breeds not accepted by the AKC, and not all of them are simply rejected, I've been told that some reffuse to be accepted because of something to with money, but that's not important.
I don't understand why simply because a dog doesn't have AKC papers it is worthless in the eyes of many, even though it's not a mutt and that it IS purebred. From what I understand, papers from any given club are easily obtained for the right price, AKC included. That kinda lowers the worth, because it's been said that an imperfect dog can be registered with the AKC if both parents were regestered *that's the way it's been put, which would meen a designer breed from registered parents could be registered, but i know that's not the way it is*

Why is it that the AKC is so important, and that only breeds recognized by that club are real breeds?
