Styrofoam is soft, pretty toxic and would clog its stomach. At least wood isn't toxic. When you get your hamster out, why don't you put it in a "decontamination" zone, i.e. somewhere without wood chips in it, so the wood chips the hamster has on it fall off in that area before you take him somewhere else?

Styrofoam could seriously hurt your hamster! Ask your local pet store if there is a healthy, natural alternative.

HI. Don't worry he won't die but it could cause breathing problems if he ate more than the size of the bottom of a cup.. ok DONT WORRY!! he will be fine!! good luck and prayers to your hamster =)

No sytrofoam will not be good for the hamster. He might try to eat it and choke on it. The poor hamster will suffocate.

What are you getting it for. I don't recommend it because they will just chew right thru it in minutes. You know they chew on any and everything.
