That's pretty young. Cockatiels live 15-30 years. (And everyone you ask gives a different number, LOL.) At 9 months it should already be weaned (be able to eat solid food) and should have most of its feathers. Google "cockatiel breeding" to get more info about how they age.

A nine month old cockatiel is young, generally chicks are weaned at 7 weeks of age. Depending on wheather you bought you cockatiel at a pet store or from a local breeder most birds will have a band on one of their feet. Generally this is for identification purposes and can for sure tell you the true age of the bird. If you are wanting to breed your cockatiel it is suggested to wait until a female is 18 months and a male is 12 months. A cockatiel can live upwards of 20 years old.

Young. It's not a baby any more but they can live to be about 15 years old. I prefer starting out with birds about 2-3 months old so they really trust you and love you. Good luck!

Young. Really young. In my opinion, any bird younger than a year old is a baby.
My oldest macaw is 5, and he's still a baby. (since he lives 90-100 years), and my youngest macaw, Katie is 18 weeks old. She's a baby-baby.
Good luck!

Young. I think they can live up to 10 years maybe more. I know parrots are a lifetime investment as they can live 30-40 years.
