What will take out cat urine smell in shoes?

My husband left his shoes outside and a cat pissed in them. What can I use to get rid of the smell? Why do cats love to pee in shoes?

Hi Crystal...Cats who urinate on shoes could be a territorial marking behaviour especially if they are not fixed. Other times it could be a result of a lower urinary tract infection. Use a spray bottle with straight vinegar in it. Spray the inside of your shoes with the vinegar until saturated. Let them dry...it may take a day or two. The smell should be gone.
