A 20gal tank will be fine for a few months, but you will eventually need to increase the size of the tank as it grows. I also recommend getting a basking light for one side of the tank.
Make sure you are offering a wide selection of food other than protein based stuff. Bearded dragons are omnivores and need their veggies as well as a little fruit. You'll find that when he's younger he'll be pickier about veggies, but as he gets older he'll incorporate more into his diet.
Check out the site in the source line for diet info.

You should check out a reptile site like repticzone or something. It's always best to do your research before buying the reptile and they are really helpful there. If your beardie is a baby I wouldn't recommend the sand. It can cause a lot of problems. Feed collard greens, dandelion greens, squash, frozen mixed veggies, crix and some people feed roaches. Not this chick though, omfg yuck!!! Don't feed spinach or lettuce. (Romaine is ok as a treat) Good luck, they are a very nice pet to have.

Sand is a really bad idea. The animal can ingest it and become impacted. Sand also gets under the scales of reptiles and causes irritation and infection.
I know calci-sand claims to be digestable, but in large quantities it is not. Anyway, why take the risk? I'd switch to something the beardie can not swallow.

DO NOT USE CALCI-SAND FOR BEARDYS UNDER SIX INCHES, IT CAUSES IMPACTION. USE REPTILE CARPET!
UVA/UVB lighting for the beardy to produce vitamin D3 for calcium conversion. A calcium supplement to dust the crickets, veggies, and fruit. Wax worms.
A heat lamp for a basking area. Hydrometer and a thermometer. A rock (NOT a heat rock) under the heat lamp to bask, and a hiding space.
A water dish. A food dish
Either a red bulb to keep the heat up at night or a ceramic heat emitter.
A good book to tell you about behavior, diet, and care.
The number of a certified exotic herp. vet.
A much bigger tank.
And this is the minimum NEEDED

They need a varied diet mostly consisting of vegetables(greens, catcus), some fruit and protein.
I suggest you check this website for a very good Bearded Dragon diet plan. It lists what they should have and how often and also what they absolutely should never eat.

you will need a at least a 30 gallon tank as it will grow to about 18-24 inches long.
you will need a water dish
some logs or something for it to clime on
you will also need a heat light to keep them warm
you can also food then vegetables as will as crickets
bearded dragon can scratch but they are very friendly and a brilliant pet to keep.
if your still not sure you can ask your local pet shop.

hi there it all depends on how old the beardie is if it's a baby or juvenile i would suggest paper towel or paper (unprinted and uncoloured) until it's an adult then use aspen ..sand tend to impact the beardies ... their is many thing u can feed ur beardie also depends on how old it is ... babies and juveniles eat more insects ...where adults eat more veggies ... check out our info website ....it will tell you the basic needs for them and what u can feed them ....one adult needs at lease a 40gallon tank and what ever u do do not use a heat rock it will cause burns even death...use heat lamp only from above

buy a book about bearded dragon care! Your whole family should read it.. and you all should know what he needs. It would be good for your son, too... he will feel more responsible if he knows exactly how to care for his new pet.
