I posted another question, that brought me to this one.

Would you buy a 100 year old log home? Why or why not.

Do you have an older log home? What are some problems you ran into?

Thanks!

My daughter left a cookie on the floor last night , when I got up this morning there were these tiny light colored ants? They look exactly like ants , only they are really small. I cleaned everything , now I keep noticing them everywhere!! I am going insane they are taking over my life and I feel like I have an insect invasion going on!! I am a really clean person and I am having a hard time dealing with this, what the h*ll should I do to get rid of the bastards? Keep in mind , they are pretty small, that is the worst part about it. It really freaking me out!Has anyone ever seen tiny ants before? I dont know if this helps , but I live in the U.P of Michigan.

Plastic trees don't work. Soil is too dry to grow much.
I still want a natural look.

I want to cut down on my garbage bill and am wanting to put my decomposables in a bin or whatever outside, not open. I have dogs who will get into it. I live in Oregon and it rains in the winter a lot and is hot in the summer, any cheap easy ideas that cost next to nothing ?

I have to block the water coming off a county bike path from pouring into our house. I'm not sure who is the most capable business to call. We have hit a dead end with trying to get help from the county or town, so we want to take it into our own hands, but we want to do it right.

I get the occassional bee or wasp in the house (I leave a lot of windows open, get them about twice a week) and as they scare me (I know, whimpy) I got a bugspray but it's such horrible stuff. They take ages to die and flies keel over and die even hours after I sprayed it. I've just spent fifteen minutes rescuing flies and taking them back into the fresh air, I have nothing against flies so I feel horrible that they've gotten ill. So is there a way to get rid of bugs without risking a sting but also without actually harming them?

PS I know for spiders there's this plastic thing you can capture them in but I'm not keen on getting that near a spider.

2 - 3 weeks ago, I asked on here why anyone would steal unopened rosebuds.

Around 3 AM today, I got up. Happened to look out the window, and caught movements in my flower garden. I turned on the porch light.

Young deer there, maybe as big as a yearling. Eating flowerheads off a tall plant. He looked up at the light, then went back to eating. Today, I see that he has again eaten one rosebud. Tiny ones on other bush still there.

In the past 2 months, he (she?) has eaten my rosebuds, our green beans, the tops off the beets. I think he may live in the heavily wooded spare lot we own behind the house.

Now what? Can't afford a fence. Can't lay out poison (wouldn't, anyway.) Can't shoot a deer in town. How do I deter him?

huge, expensive homes....I cant get one for quite a while but I'm just wondering....
-where's the best place to live? rural or other?
-I'm thinking Travertine flooring and counters...is that the best choice to go? or what kind would be?
-what are the most up-to-date accessories that a home could have?

any other info would be good....
Thanks

I really want to burn sweetly scented candles and oils in my apartment to make it smell nice. However, we are having a slight roach problem (partially due to being on the first floor of the building), and I was wondering what charecteristic of food attracts cockroaches. For example, would the sweet scent of my candles lead the cockroaches to believe that there is food (i.e. sweets) where I am really burning the candles/oils. We have put traps out, and are planning on putting out tablets, but I would really like the reassurance that my using candles will not attract more roaches. Thanks!

I know that there are a lot of furniture stores out here. Any suggestions where we should go shopping this weekend. I'm new to this area and do not really know which are the good ones. We are looking for a sectional sofa (not leather) now. We would like it to be nice and not way too expensive. I guess we are looking for a bargain. Please advise if you know. Thank you.
