You could try Bronco, it is a spray used around stables to get rid of fly's. We use it around the yard and down at the marina to keep the biting fly's away. Follow the directions on the bottle. Tractor supply co. carries it.

Let me ask you this, why are you feeding these feral cats? Do you have any idea the kind of damage feral cats do to wildlife? They're killing so many birds that it's gotten to the point that some birds may soon be gone forever,.

Feral cats are not just a problem in the U.S, They're a big problem in other country's as well.

Australia also has a major problem with feral cats. A lot of wildlife are suffering from the great population of feral cats.

And here you are worried about the flays that gather at the food you're feeding to the feral cats so that these feral cats have more litters which will most likely turn feral to add to the already huge population of feral cats.

Do a little research , go to the library and read up on the feral cats to be aware of how you are contributing to their population growth and the destruction they do.

People need to get educated about what we are loosing because of the feral cats.

Those traps actually draw flies so you need to put it out away from the porch area. Try about 20-30 ft. away. You can also buy 10% perethrin (may be spelled wrong) which you mix in a sprayer and spray the porch, walls, floors etc. I have cows next door and I spray the entire outside of my house monthly. You might also use bleach water on the floor to clean up any food residue.

Give the cats dry food, or put the food farther away from the house where the flies won't be a problem.

I know you feel sorry for the cats, but they are most likely reproducing. If you want to do a real kindness, take them to be spayed/neutered, Otherwise they will just have more kittens that will also be starving.

I would get a live trap and either pay to get them fixed and collar them(with a bell to warn the birdies) or bring them to a no kill shelter. I know it's hard when you live in the country- there are so many! But cats were bought to this country with Europeans(yes, there were puma, etc.- but not domesticated cats gone feral). They really wreak havoc on the bird population.

If you feed them, take full responsibilty.
