I was given my Grandmother's hand crocheted white table cloth. However there are several small holes/tears in the cloth and I don't have a clue about how to get the tablecloth repaired. I don't want to throw it away due to its sentimental value. Any suggestions on what I can do about the damage?
Thanks! Lin

I am having a pool built and the contracter is telling me he must grade a part of a hill for the pump, filter, etc. I am afraid this will compromise the hill, which may, in turn, compromise a fence. It is only an 18 inch drop ovr several feet and could be graded on top for a level surface.

I found one of these spiders (false black widow) in my garden. It was hiding under the beams of the front of my house. I am absolutly terrified of spiders, which sounds silly when your a 27 year old scaffolder. lol. I took a picture of it and identified it on-line and yes it was certainly a false black widow. I live in Southampton, England and was aware that they inhabit the south coast but i really did not want to find one in my own garden. As a very keen gardener it has made me slightly paranoid. Has anyone else had the dreaded experience of coming face to face with a spider that 'bites' ?

i've told them twice before to stop, but as soon as the car leaves the driveway, they think that the house is empty and that they can play with no-one knowing...i can have windows open, TV on and still they play.

I have a bee hive on my house that I would like to take down but it just won't come down. I have poked it with a long poll at least 10 times but the damn thing is stuck up there pretty good.

Do you have any idea on how to take it down?

The bee hive is on the corner of my house next to the attic vent.
Its a two story house and my water hose cant reach that area.

The house I live in now (VERY small) has gas heat, about $300 a month on average in the winter. I'm moving into another house, which is about 4x as big, and it has electric baseboard heat. Each room and hallway has it's own thermostat. Am I looking at a giant electric bill during the winter? Or not since I can control the temp of each room? Just curious to see what you guys have to say, I've been hearing all different answers. Thanks!

We are tearing down a 125 year old barn, and there is tons of nice old wood, both planks and huge hand hewn beams. We have plans for a few things, including a 10 by 20 greenhouse/shed, some benches, and a few bookcases. But we will still have lots of beams, planks and siding left. Any ideas?

I tried it once, and it seemed like a lot of birds pushed a lot of the seed out of the feeder seeking a different kind in the mix. Probably made the chipmunks happy!

I live in a row of 10 houses, and they live 2 doors away, today they have purposly parked 2 cars outside our house, when there is nothing outside theirs.
We have bought our house, and they still rent off the council, what can i do to get them to move their cars, as in the deeds, it doenst say that we own the parking space outside the house!
They have done this because i reported them to the RSPCA last week for leaving their dog in the back garden for a week while they went on holiday!
Anyway, how can i get them to park outside their own house!?

It's a smoke/CO alarm, so they both have separate lights for each. So it's not the CO alarm that's going off, it's the smoke alarm. But i smell nothing and it's been doing this for months, i had to take the battery out of it. I know it's not safe but it hurts my ears everytime it goes off. And i tried putting a new battery in it, so that's not it. We even tried blowing in there to see if something somehow had gotten in there to set it off, but that didn't work. So, please give me REAL responses, i don't know if i should just get a new one or not. We have no other ones in the house either.

Interested in homes built in late 1990s to present. I have always noticed how the upstairs in a two story home is always significantly warmer that the downstairs. This does not appear to be efficient.
