has anyone ever been stung by a scorpion?

i lived in florida for two years and i was stung twice...first time just got a big welt and tired...second time the scorpion was bigger and i got pretty sick almost like the flu symptoms for about 2 days...once i actually seen my doctor he yelled at me for not going to the hospital and told me i was lucky

I never have, but my mother did. She was washing dishes and put her hand into a coffee cup and was nailed by a scorpion. She promptly chopped it to bits with a butcher knife while screaming the whole time. Her hand swelled unbelievably. I hope I never get nailed by one, but I am careless in the garden and rarely use gloves and I'm sure that someday something nasty is going to get me.
