I just moved into my own condo. There are 2 balconies- one is large and one is small. There is an obviously active nest in the corner of the smaller balcony. I can see its inhabitants are striped yellow and black (I don't know if they're bees or hornets). I'm afraid to knock it down because the balcony is small, so there's nowhere to run away to.

On the lower balcony is another nest where I haven't seen any activity, so it might be safe to just knock it down.

I prefer not to use harmful chemicals if I can avoid it, not only because bees and hornets are useful creatures, but also because I think pesticides are generally bad for the environment.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't want to be afraid to go out onto either of my balconies.

Thanks!

Can they do this. If it's forclosed, won't it be owned by the bank. What will the bank do, kick us out? I was told that the bank may help us look for a new place, maybe even offer to help us find a place, is this true.

I scaped some off and after a while they began to move. They've killed two of my plants and they are starting to spread to the other kinds. Ways to get rid of them and some red ants would really help.

My girlfriend and I just moved into an apartment with a fireplace. The guy renting it to us said the previous renters just recently had it cleaned. How much does it usually cost to get it cleaned? How often does it need to be cleaned - is there a way I can tell if its too dirty to use? How do I use it? Thanks so much for your help!

I found some spots on some of my basil plant leaves. The spots are either white or very light yellow. They are very small, like the same circumferance of a small pin.
What are they? What's going on?
The plant is in a pot. I was growing in my kitchen but ants came for it so I moved it to my picnic table outside.

Every single CFL that I own that is 15watts or under is not instant-on. The package claims that it is instant-on, but it is not. Why is this?

I own two 20watt bulbs, and one of them is instant-on. I'm really puzzled because I thought that if one of the 20watts was instant-on, then the both should be. Most of my bulbs are the same brand (GE), but three bulbs are from Sylvania.

Please explain!!! Thanks.

i call them maple bugs but we have so many they r becoming a pest. we have been using a spray bottle with soap and water in it and spray it directly on the maple bug. but that is very time consuming and once some die more pile in. i was wondering if there is any non-expensive way that i could just put something outside that the maple bugs will attract to and maybe eat at and kill them so the number will start to minimize. any suggestions are great.

I feel so dumb asking this. I'm looking at mattress toppers / bed toppers (not the foam ones, but the feather ones). I'm planning on buying one.. but: Are they suppose to lay ontop of your fitted sheet? do I put them under the fitted sheet? How do they stay in place? If you lay directly on them, with no sheet over the topper-- do you wash them (or dry clean) them often? They look fluffy and comfy.. but I'm obviously not grasping the concept.

I saw an insect I've never saw before and am curious as to what it was. Firstly i'm in the UK which may narrow the search down abit. It looked like a wasp, it was black and yellow also but not as bright as a wasp if you know what I mean. It was about 6 cm long it had a needle on its tail and it alone was about 1 cm long, It had a wing span of about 5 cm and was quite a scary looking thing, it was also very agressive. it was about 3 times bigger than you bog standard wasp but the needle type thing on its tail was the most promenant thing
