I scaped some off and after a while they began to move. They've killed two of my plants and they are starting to spread to the other kinds. Ways to get rid of them and some red ants would really help.

Could be a few things- mites, aphids, mealybugs, scale.

Scale insects are currently attacking my outdoor plants -grrr. However, they are known to attack indoor plants.
The following process works for indoor or outdoor plants and all of the above insects.

Appearance: "Scales are insects with piercing/sucking mouth parts. Female scale insects look like small (1/10 to 1/5 inch), oval, legless bumps. The males are minute yellow-winged insects, and the larvae resemble small mealybugs"

How to get rid of them: "Wash infested plants with a soap/oil mixture if scraping alone doesn't do the job. Mix 1/2 tsp. insecticidal soap, 1/4 tsp. horticultural oil into 1 qt. of warm water. Wash the leaves individually with the soap/oil mixture. Rinse well. "

The rest of the story -- (and where I was lacking / why mine are back) -- You have to stay up on them. Even if you think they are gone.. continue to treat the plant.

good luck!

They could be some type of mite.

They sell a product called insecticidal soap that works very well. You can even make your own if you have an empty spray bottle.
Add a few drops of a mild dishwashing soap (like Ivory) to water and spray it on. The soap smothers the insects and won't harm the plants.

This sounds like white flies. You can get a spray for them at the local home improvement store, or as some folks have said, soapy water works just as well.

Aphids...mix 1tsp of dish soap in a large spray bottle and spray away. This spray will work for most pests. It's best to spray in the morning.
