If daffodils are poisonous does this mean I can't grow tomatoes in the bed where I have just dug the daffodils up? Or will they be ok?

The area behind my house has recently been developed into a new neighborhood of custom homes. Because I am downhill from this development, the water rushes through my yard causing damage, debris, and threatening to flood my house. Who is responsible: me, the builders, or the land developer. If the developer, how do I find out who it is?

Weought our house in 1963, a young ornimental (we were told) was planted outside on County Council land just on the edge of our front garden. Many years later, its HUGE, blotting out the street light from our garden at night. Shedding a whole load of leaves in the garden every Autumn. But worse of all, its a well known fact that the roots travel twice the distance of the hieigth of the tree! Which must now well past our house, and near the undergrown pipes to sewers etc.,

I have enquired to have it removed, the council say NO, they dont like to take down healthy trees.

We did not request it to be put there, I love trees, and would plant a dozen somewhere else to replace that one. But what else can I do????? Please advice desperately needed.

I bought this house plant some time ago last year at a supermarket.

Click the link to see the photo I took of it: http://img131.imageshack.us/my.php?image=plantimagewh5.jpg

Could you tell me something about the plant and how best to care for it as I do like it very much. It is at the moment placed where it is on the photo on a window sill looking westwards in England.
Your plant knowledge would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have a roof leak and called a roofing contractor. He wants Almost $6500 to put new shingles on my roof. He said he has never seen shingles in the condition they are. My house is only 6 years old. I have never had a leak. Could this be caused by all the snow we had this winter? What do you think is this guy trying to screw me. It couldnt possibly be the snow. When I noticed it was built up on the roof about 16" my brother in law came over and blew it off with his snowblower before it got any higher. Damn deceiptful contractor is what I think.

My mother and I have this debate on peanut butter. Once you've opened your peanut butter where do you put it...in the refrigerator or in the pantry?

To protect us...I won't tell you where we keep ours...since this is more of a "where do you keep it".

Thank you so much.

I've got an aboveground pool 4'x 18'. We've used it for two years but it's always giving us problems so I'm wondering... It's an older pool given to us by a friend. We got new liner/steps/pump/filter everything but the wall! 2 years ago. It dosent have a hole for the skimmer, just 1 hole in the wall that we we're told to use for the outlet. We've had an over the wall skimmer attched to the inlet hose which runs over the wall. This is a pain because the skimmer never sits right and generaly dosent work. It needs to be replaced this year anyway because the filter basket broke. I was told by the pool store that I couldn't have a regular skimmer. Is this true? I understand we'd have to cut holes for it but would it work?We had to tie the inlet hose to the ladder, is there a better way to run this? Any ideas are appricated. The pool store dosent have the brightest workers and I seem to know more then they do about pools. :-( Thanks!

I saw some tulips at the grocery store yesterday and since they are my favorite flower, I bought them. Unfortunately, dumb me, I didn't do research first. If I leave them indoors, will they be ok? Besides, I don't have a whole lot of sunlight outdoors anyway. Its mostly shade. Plus I have a cat and after buying them I found out that they are poisonous, so I have to keep them up so she can't get to them. I love tulips and I don't want to kill them (or my cat). What should I do?

Yes if may only save you a few cents each day. However, if EVERYONE switched it would save thousands of $$'s and cut the wasted use of engergy. I replaced every light bulb that could be safely changed to a CFL and am now using 1/4 the wattage used before. What is the average use of wattage for the lighting for the entire world? A lot I imagine. Imagine cutting it 3/4 less. A huge savings. Try them. Its kind of dim when you first turn it on so don't give up after a few seconds. The longer it is on the brighter it will get. And you can not use them in recessed enclosed light fixtures. The bulbs cost a bit more than regular bulbs but not that much more. And they last up to 8 years. Remember the big picture of a world savings when you think your only gonna save a few cents.
