I was arguing with my mate about using our dishwasher in the kitchen. She says they are expensive to operate and use a lot, a lot of electricity. Is that true?
In our dishwasher ("AEG" brand) we have five programmes of use: Intensive (75); Normal (65); Normal (50); Eco (50) and Quick (50). Usually we use "Normal" or "Eco".
Can anybody estimate how much does it cost for any given household to run a dishwasher once? I think the water is not expensive - it's the elctricity that counts.
Do you think it costs £1.00 or more (or maybe even less!!!) per very use?
Thanks.

We live in northern New Jersey, and there is a really nice house I am considering to buy.
it is in a high risk zone A flood zone, and i am having second thoughts about giving an offer.
the house is amazing, however.
we are planning to live there for only 5-10 years, so should we do it?
the land is perfectly flat on a .87 acre lot.
there is no basement, but it is a split.

Warm thanks in advance!

Ok so my room is maybe 20' x 20', and it get's dusty as hell. I have a Ionic Pro air purifier, but that doesn't seem to help curb the amount of dust that seems to cover everything. Seriously, I could dust a my desk, and when I turn around it can be layered again...is there anything to reduce the amount of dust other than to keep dusting? It drives me mad!!!

We have little space inside and wanted to keep the freezer on the back porch, which is a cement slab that is under the upstairs deck. There is also an outside plug that we would use beside the door.

When I turn on the lightswitch in my bedroom, three lightbulbs light up.
If I remove one of them, would I be saving energy?

I think that if I take one out, I would still be using the same amount of energy, but the only change would be a dimmer room.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeah I know, Christmas is over. But my poinsettia is still alive. I'm getting tired of looking at it on my kitchen counter. Will it live if I repot it and set it outside? I don't want it to die, I'd just rather see not see it on my counter anymore.

My neighborhood is getting populated by "Pole Cats" in other words, Skunk.

Does anybody know of a humane way to repel them away from my house? The neighborhood skunk got my German Shepherd in the face (the first place the skunk attacks) and the smell is wreaking havoc by the upstairs pool and cabana.

HELP?!!!!!

Anything that is not a letter does not get to me here in Central London, unless it's Special delivery. This unreliable service from Royal Mail has started back in November 2006. I have contacted them but all they say is to fill out a loss form to claim conpensation! The money is not the main issue, it's someone stealing the post! I have been living at the same address for 20 years and it's only now I am having this problem. Has anyone got any good ideas on how to deal with this issue? Royal Mail are useless!
