A cul-de-sac is a dead-end street with only one inlet/outlet.

Cul-de-sac literally means "bottom of a sack" in French (although nowadays, cul in French and in Catalan is considered a vulgar slang meaning "****/***" when used alone in a sentence). Despite seeming to be a borrowed French phrase, the expression cul-de-sac originated in England during the period when French was spoken by the English aristocracy.

Basically in basic terms... its a dead end road, with a circle type ending... There are usually houses built around the circle.
