I don't have a basement or interior room in my house, and with tornando season fast approaching I was wondering where I should take my family?

Stand in a doorway.

You don't have a closet, a pantry or anything? Closets are the most interior you can get besides bathrooms.

If closets really aren't an option, you need to find a room with no windows, as small as possible and kneel in the corner, knees on the floor with your head down and your hands clasped around your head. Cover yourself with some pillows, cushions, or a mattress; do this if you cannot avoid seeking shelter in a room with windows; it will protect you from not only the glass, but from any other flying debris as well. Crouching in the bathtub with these over your head is also a good alternative.

If in doubt, go to a safer place. A public place like a grocery store, or to a neighbor's house. Maybe a relative or a friend's house.

Under some heavy furniture or in a ditch outside. Don't you at least have an interior room like a closet under a stairway? Usually, those areas are well framed enough...There are also tornado shelters in some public buildings. Look for the yellow signs with the black broken circle and the word "shelter" underneath. The old board of education building in the neighborhood I grew up in was a safe zone during tornadic activity.

Go into a closet and, if you have time and the strength, pull a mattress in after you. Then hug the floor, hold on to something, and keep your fingers crossed.

DO NOT STAND IN A DOORWAY. That's for earthquakes, and you'll be very exposed to flying debris.

Depending on size and strength, you can and will see this coming via weather channels and forecasts, also radio and tv advisories.

I would load up your car and drive several 100 miles away, leave with plenty of time to spare.

If you're not worried about getting dirty, I would dig a hole big enough for my family to crouch in, put boards on top of the hole and pile the dirt that you dug up on top of the boards, but make a entrance that is small enough to slide in on your belly. Vola! instant shelter.
P.S. make the hole around 3-4' deep.

A closet is your best bet. Have something available to cover yourselves with.
