When I turn on the lightswitch in my bedroom, three lightbulbs light up.
If I remove one of them, would I be saving energy?

I think that if I take one out, I would still be using the same amount of energy, but the only change would be a dimmer room.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

yes you would be saving energy, each bulb uses a certain amount of wattage..... you could save more money by switching from regular incandescent light bulbs to compact fluorescent ones, they use about 1/4 to1/3 less energy for the same brightness... a 60 watt only uses 15 watts

No= but useing the right size light bulbs per locations also you can buy light bulbs that will last much longer than normal bulbs. You dont want to cut down on lighting or everone will need glasses.Your power will run the same. Now if your heating your home with power, I would change to a oil furnace or wood stove this would save you alot of $ later on. But haveing it put in would cost you approximately $3,000 just to set you up.

Yes you will save energy. If there isn't anything using the electric, there is no usage. If 1 of the bulbs are 50 watt, then you will save 50 watts per hour on your bill. Most electric companies bill is based on 1000 watt, or kilowatt hour.

if you remove one of them you will be saving energy, but it is not that much energy. if you have a 100 watt lightbulb and run it for 10 hours it is 1kilowatt. a kilowatt is what electric companies use to bill you for. normally one kilowatt is about 10 cents.

You will save energy with each light bulb you remove, but the room will not be as bright. Consider replacing the remaining bulbs throughout your house with more energy efficient compact florescent lights (CFL).
