you can paint a fence with anything you want to ..the problem is making it stay there....wood expands and contracts so much that normal paint of any type will not stop on ..and still look attractive ..there will all ways be some paint that stops on ..but in a month it will start looking tatty ..there are lots of coulored fence preservitives on the market

you could paint it with masonary paint but make sure it's oil-based paint as water-based will wash off with the rain.

Emulsion is water based, I wouldn't advise otherwise you'll be painting it again very very soon.

Masonary Paint.....NO....wood breathes, if you dont rot the wood, your paint will discolour.
Emulsion.......Same.
