20 Mule Team Borax. Sold in the grocery stores with the detergent. Mix equal parts of the powdered sugar with the borax and sprinkle some on them. They take it back to the nest and they should be gone in a week. When you first start to see them sprinkle them. If you know the trail sprinkle the trail. I sprinkle around the windows and doors.
I have gotten rid of all ants with this stuff Big black ants, red ants.

ANT BAIT
You'll find it effective, but be patient -- it may take a week to 10 days to be fully effective.
In the meantime kill ants in the house with Windex or another ammonia-based cleaner. Clean and kill, all in one motion.
Recipe:
1 part 20 Mule Team Borax or Boric acid
9 parts of a sweet sticky liquid like maple syrup, honey or Karo syrup
Mix the ingredients. Heating in a double boiler may speed the process. Take an empty margarine tub and poke 4 holes around the bottom edge (entry holes for ants to walk in).
Place a dollop the size of a quarter in the middle of the tub, then put the top back on. This mixture is not non-toxic, however it is less toxic, and that's the key to its success.
The ants carry it back to the nest where they feed it to the entire colony and wipe out the nest.

I add sugar, about half a teaspoon to a quantity of Ant Killer, such as Nippon powder. I leave it near where the ants come into the home. They take it back to the nest and not only do they die, but the follow up hatch of young ants also die. It has kept my kitchen and surrounding outdoor area free for years.

I have the same problem.
Those ants, depending on what type they are, might be dangerous to your home (if they are carpenter ants) or just an annoyance. I would advise either RAID at www.killsbugsdead.com (yes, it's harsh) or you can call in somebody to spray for you, but may require a day in a hotel.

well you need to get rid of the source of their affection. a open candy bar or a doughnut or something is attracting these ants.so they naturally come inside and get a free meal we call these ants sweet ants as opposed to piss ants that collect inside of wet tarps and and damp areas around dumpsters. the best way to keep them out is to get rid of whats attracting them and get a good inside garbage container with a good fitting lid. and clean up yer act! LOL!

Buy the antbuttons and put them under all sinks, around doors, etc. Watch and see if you determine where they are coming in. If you can, try to seal up the access. You can also buy little buttons on spikes now that you can put around outside. Supposedly they help kill the buggers before they get in the house. (I frequently have 'em coming into my dishwasher, and I guess they're getting in through the hole where the pipes come, but I can't seem to find the actual entry point.) Nasty.

This is a trick my mother taught me.
Take dish washing soap, put some on a paper towel and rub it on the ants trail. You don't put a lot, I almost rub it dry on a surface.
Use it on surface counters, floor (not carpet!!!) and it will keep them away. Give it a try.... I know it worked for my mom and me!!

You have to treat outside your house, the yards and flower beds...spraying inside doesn't kill the queen. You need to kill off the ants and the queen.
Scott lawn products are terrific.

the excellent thank you to do away with gnats is thru ravenous them out. placed all ingredients away in an hermetic field or the refrigerator. clean all grimy dishes, dry and placed away each nighttime. thoroughly clean the sink and dry it. put in the drain plugs so the gnats can't discover the water there the two. try this for consistent with week and the gnats would be long gone!
