Do you have to buy your chemicals at a pool supply place, or can you buy the Aqua Chem ones at Wal Mart. Is there any difference between them?

I always bought Wal-Mart chemicals and never had any problems.

I use AquaChem for the standard chemcials - chlorine, pH add/decrease and alkalinity. For specialty treatments, I go to the pool supply, and the previous person suggested. You'll use those chemicals far more often than say, algaecide, and they work well for the price. And as long as you keep those chemicals in good balance, you shouldn't ever have to worry about buying the specialty treatments.

You can buy the Walmart chemicals. I would suggest though, that when you need testing for something that you cannot remedy (mustard alge etc) that you buy your chemicals at the pool place. After all, they tested your water free and gave you advice on how to treat it.
