We just moved and are in the process of selling our old house. We've got the garage about half packed with items to get rid of. Planned on having a yard sale but then someone today mentioned that they always just donate their stuff to GoodWill, get a receipt and then write off the donation on their taxes. Hmmm... I'd never thought of that. Now, say I dontated and got a receipt for say $600, how much of this would I actually be getting back at tax time? We've got a lot of stuff to get rid of, just about all the furniture and kitchen items, plus a ton of kids toys.

i have noticed when ive come home the last couple of nights that on my living room carpet there seems to be a type of silvery type of thread on the floor, at first i thought it was a snail trail or something but it is very fine and disappears straight away if you wipe it away - its not sticky. weird question on know but can anyone help ???

We have lived in the same townhouse for years and there is a new occupant on the opposite side of us (we are connected back to back). They brought roaches in with them. The problem is that we are all owners of the units so it's not like we can have a landlord come spray everyone. We have sprayed and they are still showing up! Should we hire a professional or is there a just as effective way to do it ourselves? Also, has anyone lived through having them? I'm so worried our house will have them forever!

Everytime i do some washing,it just leaks water everywhere.I have tried replacing the washer that goes on the end of the pipe where its screwed in the outlet but when i turn it back on its all leaking out from the same place again.Its leaking from where you attach the hose to the cold tap that comes from the mains.Does anyone know if theres several types of Washing Machine washers or if theres something else wrong with it.I assume its the washer that doesnt fit in it properly but dont know.Can anyone help as i need to do my washing!!

I transplanted my ficus about a week ago and now the leaves, especially the inner leaves are turning yellow and falling off. I think it could be because I gave it to much water (4 cups) when I transplanted it to pack down the soil abit, but I don't know. It's been 9 days and the soil still feels slightly moist. Is there anything I can do?

We are looking into buying a new one before ours finally goes out.

And I have noticed that many fridges now have the freezer on the bottom.How does that work for anyone that owns one like that here.

I'm trying to find out the model / manufacturer of my built-in fireplace. I've searched the web but no pictures resemble mine. So the best way to find out is by posting an image in this section of yahoo answers. Is this possible? If not, is there another site that can help with this type of question?


I thought my fire was a Home Fires one, or maybe Jetmaster but nothing from either matched mine. If I could post a pic of the fireplace, it would hopefully help in identifying it.

My hubby and I found, well, frankly I don't know exactly what it is. But I want to make a small table out of it, so my question is, where can I go to find a round pane of glass approximately 18 inches in diameter? Is there somewhere I can go where they will cut it for me? It doesn't have to be glass, plexiglass would work.

Also, any idea how much something like that costs??

I have not been able to find the Tomato Vine Scented Candles since Illuminations Store at the Mall went out of business. They do not respond online about if they will ever bring back this candle. Does anyone know where I can find such a candle ?

Ok. This is so gross but we have roaches. We found one last week (texas sized) and called an exterminator. The guy came in and sprayed some stuff and left, without talking to us.
Ever since, I see a roach almost every morning. We always kill it though.

Is our problem getting worse or do you think this stuff is working? I have no idea what he sprayed and now I'm bleaching everything again to try to help the problem myself.

I am planning to put a shed/ workshop in my garden. I want to use it as room to work in ( typing on a laptop / notebook) during summer evenings and to use a rowing machine. What type of workshop should I get ( any brand names you would advise?) .

While away at college, the dorms that I lived in had a mattress that was very light, and seemed cheap. However, it was very comfortable.
