I've only ordered checks online through my bank's website. (I think the last time was at least two years ago - I just don't do THAT much with physical checks -- use online banking or debt card for most of my bank-transactions)
... why is this in the Home & Garden -section of Y!A ??

You should be able to order them through your bank's website.
This is probably the safest route to go because you know it's legit if it's on your bank's website.
The fee is deducted from your account a few days after you make the transaction. I paid about $13 for my last batch of checks.

I just ordered from Artisticchecks.com
We got two boxes of side tear american flag checks for like 11 dollars. Look in the sunday paper with the coupons to get a coupon code. Each time I order from a different company so I still get the 1st time customer rate. I have also used checksunlimited.com and checksinthemail.com. It takes about two weeks for them to be delivered via regular mail.

Another reputable site is checkgallery.com
I just bought mine through Costco.com - they had the best rates. $22 for four boxes, shipping included. It would have been less if I was an executive member.
