I just moved into a new apartment in Chicago after living in a building that had a roach problem. Now, in my new place, I've noticed that we have a noticeable mouse issue. There are mouse droppings in the drawers and a few nights ago, they chewed a hole in a ziplock bag that contained a sage stick. My roommate and I want to get rid of them, but we are worried that setting out mousetraps with food in them would attract roaches and we don't want to go through that hell again. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

One night I found this weird bug thing. Here's a description of it:

*Was in my light
*Brown
*Shaped like a "T"
*When it flew away it looked like a moth
*It was night
*Had something that looked like a stinger on its vertical body.

What the heck is this thing????

I have ant problems in my kitchen. I am the most anal when it comes to keeping my kitchen cleaned.

I went to get my 2 year old lunch and they were swarming the stove. Funny thing is that there were no where else just the stove, not the floors, counters or anywhere but the stove.

I have no ideas where they are coming from. I spray'd them and cleaned it up. Went to the store came back and I found 4 more crawling around. ANy ideas.

I have wooden steps leading down to a lake that is behind my house. Apparently, wasps have built a nest underneath the step itself and I have no access to get to it other than spraying in between the boards. This has proven unsuccessful. How can I kill the wasps and the nest without tearing up the wooden boards?

I guess I have this irrational thought that shoes need to have air circulating around them. On the other hand, keeping them in plastic shoe boxes would be neater and it would be easy to see what's inside. What do you think?

Just about every mattress has about 2,000,000 dust mites as well as their fecal matter. Did you know this?

I am trying to identify a large collection of presumably antique china that was in my house when I bought it.

There are about 100 pieces, which includes serving platters, cups and saucers, dinner and dessert plates, bowls, cream and sugar pitchers, ect, all unmarked (no stamp or sign anywhere).

These are all white with a wide robin's egg blue band around the edges (about 1 3/4 inches wide), and metalic silver trim. It is obvious by the design that these pieces are very old, though I have not found a single scratch, chip or other defect with any of them.

Any knowledgeable info on age, maker, ect would be apprieciated!

Thanks!

I'm always a little leary about lawn chemicals. Also, I need to clean some oil stains off the driveway and I've heard that mineral spirits will take them right off. Is that okay with a well?

Does anyone know how they determine how much your items are worth? I am asking because our whole town got flood and everything in our basement is ruined. I am not going to turn it in and raise my rates if they are going to say my stuff isn't worth anything. Does anyone know how they determine this?

I have an outlet which has three wires, black, white, and red. (20 amp)

The air compressor I'm trying to hook up has a 'similar' plug, but it's a 30 amp, also 3 wires, but one is green (Ground).

How do I convert the outlet to 30amp? Can I use one of the wires as a ground besides green? Thanks.

PS. FYI the plug is a 3 prong "locking" plug, kind of in a circular type shape.

Hi! I live in a very old house (200+ years) and I would love to know some specific history about it (maybe who lived here, what the house used to look like, how the surrounding land was, anything). I haven't the slightest idea where to begin to look, so any and all suggestions are appreciated! Thanks! :-)
