Should shoes be stored in plastic shoeboxes?

Question

I guess I have this irrational thought that shoes need to have air circulating around them. On the other hand, keeping them in plastic shoe boxes would be neater and it would be easy to see what's inside. What do you think?

I'm not fan of plastic boxes for shoes, it sounds like a great environment to grow bacteria or so. i rather keep them in a rack shoe with the original cardboard boxes. but it is just my opinion, I know clear plastic boxes have become very popular at the container store or similar stores.

I keep mine in cardboard boxes - all the same with a photograph of the shoes on the front!
