How do I get rid of mice without attracting other bugs?

I just moved into a new apartment in Chicago after living in a building that had a roach problem. Now, in my new place, I've noticed that we have a noticeable mouse issue. There are mouse droppings in the drawers and a few nights ago, they chewed a hole in a ziplock bag that contained a sage stick. My roommate and I want to get rid of them, but we are worried that setting out mousetraps with food in them would attract roaches and we don't want to go through that hell again. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I would suggest using glue boards to trap the mice... or possible using bait boxes. Bait boxes contain an element in which only mice and rats are attracted to. The mice wil go inside and eat the contents and then die shortly after! ps. I work in pest control!

Glue boards are the way to go but your going to have to deal with hearing the mice scream if you can handle it, throw the mice that are trapped in the glue into a plastic bag and then just stomp on it with your shoe. There are also cage type traps that you can then release them but that is silly in a way because they could find their way back. Get some expandable foam and fill any and every hole you find in your apartment...around pipes on the walls etc. you need to stop them from coming in first and foremost then worry about catching them all.

Try to find out where they are coming in. Check around pipes, under sinks and by toilets. Make sure door close flush. Check window screens- you get the idea. They don't need a lot of room to squeeze through. Shove holes you find full of steel wool and GreatStuf expandable foam(and screw your landlord's cussing over the hassle when fixing plumbing if s/he can't secure your apartment). If you can keep them from coming in, you shouldn't have a problem.

In the meantime, keep food in plastic containers (the thicker the better) and if you can have a cat- get one. I have had no rodent problems since getting a cat(and no disgusting furry presents either).

you may get those digital plug in issues that set up an electromagnetic stress by your partitions that don't situation you or pets yet mice and bugs, which includes ants do in contrast to. Or, use mint and spray tt everywhere as air freshener familiar. I lived in an previous block of residences infested with ants and on no account suffered. I had a marvelous style of geraniums and spiders.
