These are real small...way smaller than a lady bug. None of the pics I have seen even look like them. They are like the size of a grain of sand. I feel like they are coming from my attic through the ceiling, just in small spots of maybe 6 or so...I live in PA if that helps.

Well before you jump to the conclusion that you may be infested with bed bugs you might consider some other possibilities. You didn't say where you lived because there are different insects not only in different countries of the world but even in the different states here in the US. Anyway, the first thing that came to my mind when I read your description were lady bugs. Take a look and see what you think: http://www.ent.iastate.edu/imagegallery/lady/. Lady bugs come into the houses in the winter so is it summer or winter where you live. It would be nice if you could let us know whether any of the pictures we've posted here is your insect.

Edit, Now I am thinking based upon your added detail that you might have clover mites but I was not able to find a good picture of them to show you. there are so many bug identification websites on the web.
