Check out this site for small home designs. They have a few categories that feature small homes that may help you - Cabins & Cottages, Small & Affordable, Love Shack and Vacation. Also, there I remeber seeing an article in the resource section about having a building budget.

This isn't exactly what you are asking but I am going to tell you how to build a home cheap. Buy a home book with building plans on it, have an architect make it to a certified building plan with materials listed. Buy materials wholesale, lumber direct from mills, windows from window manufacturing plants, get bids from cabinet manufacturers, hire independent electricians that want some side work have estimates so they compete with each other in price, and make sure you use a sub-contractor who will contract back the work for as much as you and your family knows how to do so you don't have to pay for that. Do all these steps and you'll save over 50% and end up with beautiful large home!

Oh, try Lowe's. I just received one of their fliers in which they featured plans for two bedroom cottages. I don't know how much they are, but they may be what you are looking for. They are around 600 square feet and just adorable. I'm considering one for a lake house.
Here is the Lowe's website for the "Katrina" cottages.

Hope this helps.
