My kids can't play outside without being attacked by ants. We can't open the back door without them coming into the house. I have never seen a yard with so many ant hills. We recently paid for an expensive bag of stuff from Lowe's. We followed the instructions and it did absoluetly nothing. I would hate to go buy another brand and it not work also. Please help! Any home remedies or secrets?

The pumpkins get no bigger than a pencil eraser, and the zuchs about 2 inches long. They seem to rot and then fall off. The zuchs get good sun through out the day, and the pumpkins get mid to late after noon sun.

Someone tried to break into my house late in the morning. Thankfully, he/she didn't succeed and only wanted to see if my side door was open. What are ways to help me build up security so it doesn't happen again without having to resort in buying an expensive alarm system?

I have tons of zucchini from my garden but I would like to enter a particular one that has just been picked in our fall fair. How long can a fresh, uncut zucchini be kept in the refrigerator before it goes soft and loses it's firmness and freshness.

I have, and also go to other people's lawn/yard/garage/ tag sales. I notice one thing - the items I've listed - nobody even looks at. I guess because my mom was a clothing/basket/glass and dish-aholic, I thought these thing would sell like hotcakes. I only know that she could never pass them up. Now I have a houseful of these things to dispose of and nobody is buying.

How do you go about purchasing a repossessed property. Do you have to find a auction site; which I believe deals with these, or can you approach an estate agents or bank/building society which may have repossessed the property and is now selling it on?

My patio gets FULL SUN, there is no shade and I want a large tropical tree or two! My backyard has Queen Palms, Hibiscus and other tropical plants. I live in a desert type climate so when it is hot it is at least 100 degrees in the summer but in the winter it gets in the 40s here in Southern California. Please some good suggestions?

I've heard some "buzz" that there's a marked decrease in the honeybee population. I live in upstate New York. This year I bought a basil plant that was in bloom at the nursery 5 miles from my house where bees were swarming around it. Thinking to attract bees, I set it outside when I brought it home. I haven't seen so much as a mosquito around it! At this time of year we're usually inundated with all types of insects - ladybugs, dragonflies, mosquitoes, etc. I haven't seen ANYTHING this year but a few hornets. Same with birds. It's like the outdoor fauna is non-existent in my town. What gives?

I know they are beneficial to the environment, and that most of them are not harmful (especially where I live. There are no black widows and I have never seen a brown recluse), but I am still terrified of the thought of having any of them in my house. So scared, that I cannot make myself finish unpacking from moving because I'm afraid they will be in the boxes (some boxes have been sitting in a room for 8 months now). How can I stop being so scared!? I just want to not feel like a prisoner in my own home!

I have a large schefflera in a big pot in my house. She is about three years old and is one of the ones that has about four or five long stalks about 2-3 feet tall with lots of the five leaf clusters, but in the last few months the leaves have been falling off. They don't turn yellow and die, they just get limp and dull looking and droop and then fall off. She is really getting bald looking, or like she's been through a hurricane. I have given her miracle gro and moved her for some more sun, but nothing seems to help. Anyone have any suggestions about what's wrong with her or what could help? I am really worried about her.

Off white background with two-tone leaves, and colorful pink & red blossoms, smaller yellow blossoms. The back ground is filled with blue-grey leaves and wiggly lines, as well as some blue-grey branches. The dishes are rimmed with a deep green narrow border. Pieces include two small bowls with two handles - one on each side.
Can anyone tell me what this unusual pattern is?

I live in Bellevue, NE and a neighbor of my friend has a dying tree on the property line that is an eyesore and potentially a harzard. It crosses over into my friend's yard and looks like it could fall on her house one day. It is very large and she doe snot think she should have to pay to get it cut back. Can she get the city to force him to deal with it deeming a hazard or a danger? What are her options?
