how can you keep a beach umbrella up?

do you need like a holder or does it just stay up??

The best is a holder but you could try just poking the bottom of the pole into a hole in the sand and then tamp sand around it.

They probably sell some stands for umbrella's at wall mart ( any kind of super market like that ) If that doesn't work out. Just dig a whole under it make sure its pretty steep.
