Do I have to throw away trees in some special container or place?

i want to cut down a tree in my backyard. I know the communist society we live, will i need to take it to a special place to dispose of it, since I know i cant throw away everything in the regular trash.

I keep my christmas tree, cut all the limbs off, let it dry in my garage for about a year, then cut it into jewelry boxes.

dear sir: there is a special place for bulk items like trees,this is not your everyday garbage collections.
