I have a small family and wouldn't mind having some sort of plan and supplies for a disaster like 2012. 2012 is pretty interesting. I am sorry for the category I posted this in. I couldn't find a better one.

I have just been hit with an exceptionally large bill form my power supplier. This is even after we kept asking our provider if it would cover the expense. Each time they told us yes.
So bit p****d off.
Any thought or relevant information would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance

The bathroom door has a lock on the inside, but only a pin hole on the outside. It was accidentally locked and now I can't open it. Any ideas?

People amaze me - I work in the building supply industry and I have never met so many people that believe they are superior to the suppliers they are dealing with.

I just met the meanest woman in my showroom who was exceptionally rude and nasty. I (obviously) had someone else help her but I discussed it with the salesperson later and this woman is going to pay a HUGE premium for her supplies.

Furthermore, I'm going to drop an email out to all of my contacts that bid to her and she'll pay a premium at the competition too. This is known as the "you're a pain in the a$$" charge in the industry.

Thank you for letting me vent guys and remember, if you are building or remodeling it would be in your best interest to not demean or treat others as if they're beneath you.

Competition or not, we talk.

It seems to have gotten stuck in a small support wall that's sealed off. I am thinking it fell down into it? I'm not sure. It hasn't moved from that spot for a week. It moves around a lot like it's trying to crawl up to get out but never makes it. I have no idea how to get to it or how to get rid of it. Any suggestions?

I work at a daycare and we have a tree covered in caterpillar nests. I decided to save some that were close to death (aka being stepped on by two year olds). I brought about 25 home in a large plastic box with leaves, grass and sticks. I read up and researched that they are eastern tent caterpillars. Should I just put them in a tree and see what happens, or should I put them back where I got them? Or, should I keep them in the plastic box?

Does anyone else have problems with "White" sewing machines. I mean, I know mine is only about 100 bucks in the store, but it should at least give me something to be happy about once in awhile! I always am battling with something about the machine. If I spend 500 bucks on a new sewing machine, would I have better luck??? And what brand?

But here's an actual sewing question. I'm sewing a straight stitch, when I look underneith the fabric the loops are huge and loose. So I adjust the tension to way less, doesn't do any good. I know I'm threading it right. Maybe I need to oil it? But how do I go about doing that, because my "White" instructions are terrible and half written in other languages.

PLEASE HELP!!! I'm on the verge of sewing a purse by hand!!

I know it will be hard to tell from what I am about to describe, but if you could tell me the name of this bug/pest/insect, and maybe suggest a good way to get rid of them, I'd appreciate that.
Here's the description: It's tiny (as tiny as a very sharp pencil tip), it's dark (almost black), crawls and there were a lot of them in an area (maybe around 4 or 5 per square inch area). I found them on 1st floor (a hardwood floor) at the corner of the house inside. My wife has been wiping them out over 10 times a day and now there are only a few that we notice, but they still show up and I want to get rid of them and I'd like to know their name first...

I took a picture of it, but it wasn't very helpful, so just describing it here.

The name of the pattern is 'Mayfair'. The pattern is red roses and yellow carnations around the very edges with a red line on the rim. The service says 'made in Staffordshire, England' on the reverse.

We just moved into a historic two story home and the previous owners allowed English Ivy to overtake one chimney. The chimney isn't even visible because the ivy is so thick. It's growing inside our windows, and I'm sure it's going down the chimney from the top. I need a QUICK, CHEAP solution. I've been pulling the ivy off where I can reach but I can't reach any further up without a taller ladder or climbing on the roof. Anyhow, any advice would be much appreciated!!!

I live in Australia and am surrounded by various eucalypts. I want to harvest leaves to make an essence to use for cleaning and to make my home smell nice. I tried chopping up leaves and then boiling them down, but the smell is gone by the next day. Any suggestions on how I can properly harvest to oils from the eucalypt leaves?

Every night, usually once, there is an extremely loud noise coming from, I believe, pipes in the wall. The sound is almost similar to a fog horn. Loud and droning, causing the walls to slightly vibrate. It usually only lasts twenty-five seconds or less. Can anyone identify what this noise is or at least list possibilities?
