"A shed for spiders ONLY?" Spiders are beneficial in the garden but taking over the shed is too much. Don't demolish, but take back your shed. I wish I had a garden shed again, spiders or not.

My suggestion for you is to keep your garden-belongings nicely organized on shelves so can see at a glance what you own. Periodically I would take down everything and clean the shelves with a stiff broom. Also sweep down the walls, the ceiling, the floor and the corners. If you keep the shed clean and free of insects, the spiders will find less to eat, thus their numbers will remain lower.

I am afraid of spiders but I would refuse to give up a shed to them, that would be the day! Start sweeping and swishing. The spiders have the rest of the county to roam in and don't have to invade your shed nor your home.

P.S. my call letters "tgbc" stand for "the garden badger claw",

Just reading the answers to this question makes my day. Leave the shed door ajar and soon you will have wasps that take care of the spider overpopulation. Do be careful of picking up anything in the shed without gloved hands until you have the spiders under control unless you have the beautiful American garden spider. It will not harm you at all but brown recluses and black widows love sheds and such dark places.

Wowee... You hit the jackpot, friend. I study spiders! I am a biologist who specializes in Arachnology. Let me first tell you, this is not a harmful creature. Altho it looks mean and spookie, it is quite nice. And guess what? It is known as a fisher spider, because it prefers to be near water! It is in the family: Pisauridae- and named: Dolomedes scriptus. You can google it if you like. I would simply take a large wide mouth clear glass jar and collect it by placing the mouth of jar over spider and because spiders have horrible eyesite, despite having 8 eyes, it wont even notice. You can slide a thin piece of cardboard or even a piece of mail under the mouth of jar as it is pressed against surface, and spider will step up onto it, and while keeping the cardboard over jar mouth, walk outside and remove cardboard or mail... and soon your little (okay, big and furry) visitor will help himself (yep, it was male. Just think, females are bigger) will crawl out when ready. No harm to you or him, and he will be very happy to be outside with friends and food. Spiders are wonderful animals, and it shows that you have a great home for one to feel comfortable to visit. He just lost his way back out. No worries. Too bad I'm not in your neighborhood or i'd be thrilled to come help an 8 legged friend. It's my work, hobby and passion. Best to you and him.

If you pull it down, the spiders are gonna run into the grass, and from there they'll crawl into your house, up into your bed and hide under your pillow until you fall asleep.
Then, they'll crawl into your ears and lay eggs inside your head and then the baby spiders will hatch inside your head and eat your brain to survive.

Actually, there was a case of a man in the "Bankok Hilton" (one of the world's worst prisons) where a cockroach had laid eggs in a man's ear canal and when the maggots hatched they ate into his neck, and only the man's endless agonising screams convinced the guards to let another prisoner cut into his neck with a razor blade to free the maggots. True story that.

I like spiders although I don't want them on me. I never kill them but put them outside. They spend their entire life in fear. But, if you need that shed I guess you can take down the webs and try to get them out of there. They will just scatter and go somewhere else. Good luck

if you dont need it then you might as well just take it down, your garden will probably look better without a useless, spider-filled shed just sitting off to one side...

Tear it down and burnit up. Spiders thrive wherever they can so dont worry for their welfare. They can come and live in my garden, they will have plenty of friends there.
