Does anyone else have problems with "White" sewing machines. I mean, I know mine is only about 100 bucks in the store, but it should at least give me something to be happy about once in awhile! I always am battling with something about the machine. If I spend 500 bucks on a new sewing machine, would I have better luck??? And what brand?

But here's an actual sewing question. I'm sewing a straight stitch, when I look underneith the fabric the loops are huge and loose. So I adjust the tension to way less, doesn't do any good. I know I'm threading it right. Maybe I need to oil it? But how do I go about doing that, because my "White" instructions are terrible and half written in other languages.

PLEASE HELP!!! I'm on the verge of sewing a purse by hand!!

sounds like you have a bobbin problem, if your bobbin is correctly inserted it should turn clockwise when you pull the thread, try increasing your tension slightly, you want to pull the bobbin thread into your seam line,
check out the Machine forum at www.sew-whats-new.com and see if bill or tom could help you out,
if you plan on a new machine I would go with a Janome, but your white should work,
is your needle postioned correctly? it should be all the way up, and is the thread well into the tension discs, If you are sewing something very thick it will sometimes release your tension and then you get big loops under the fabric,

If your not too familiar with the machine take out the manual.. In the back is a cheat sheet of sorts.. It will give you scenarios of errors or problems and it will tell you on the otherside what might be the problem.. I clean my machine at least every other day. Granted I sew for a living and use it everyday.. I have a Janome 6500 which is up there as far as machines are concerned but I also have a little Europro that I just bought off someone for $40, they said it was broken.. My husband took it apart and apparently someone else had taken it apart and removed and replaced wrong a clutch brace on the machine .. They also bent it so my husband turned it around and it works like a charm.. Actually I like some of the stitches better than my $1200 machine.. Please read the manual. It might be something as simple as being threaded wrong, the bobbin might be in backwards ect and like the last lady said the needle could be in backwards which is quite hard to do with the flat sided needles they have today.. Hope this helps

Definitely sounds like a tension problem. Oiling it won't help. You could also be having problems with the bobbin tension. I had this problem with my $100 Singer. The bobbin casing actually fell apart while I was sewing. Luckily, I was able to put it back together and it has been fine every since.
So I would suggest that you do a seam then look at the bobbin and see what is happening there. Also, increasing the tension may help. Do you have a help number to call with your instructions? Good luck, I know how frustrating this is!
