Here's a recipe for a good home-made fly trap.... it will catch flies, and then all you have to do is throw the jar out.

1/4 cup of. Vinegar
1/4 cup of. sugar
Water
Put first 2 ingredients in a jar and then add enough enough water to make it about 1/2 full..... and then punch a couple of bigger than "fly sized" holes in the lid so that the flies can get to it. You can place them anywhere around the house, and they're also good for patio's or barns.

It won't hurt the kids or pets....and it DOES work !

The only good natural remedy I've been able to find is prevention and a flyswatter. Make sure the doors and windows all have good screens to keep the flies out. Then, spend five minutes in the early morning (when they are cold and slow) swatting the ones that get into the house. Repeat as necessary through the day.

I don't know what to say if they are out in the barn or something. I've heard lime helps.

Boil up a handful of chrysanthemum flowers in 2 qts of tap water for 1-2 hrs on low. Cool it until room temp. Filter them through a coffee filter. Pour the filtrate into a squirtbottle. Add a few drops of Joy or dawn or your favorite detergent and a little (1/2 -1 tsp) of boric acid. Shake well and Squirt away. It is safe.
Or you can borrow my dog! My mini greyhound leaps into the air and catches flies and spits them out.

You can go to a florist and ask for stale chrysanthemums. (Or even Mums)
I buy mine in Chinese food stores as whole flowers, dried, packaged in celophane bags.
