do the Brita filters ever expire? there is a sale for a three pack and it would take 6 monthes to go through that many.

I had a set of absorbent stone coasters that worked fantastic, but the design was molded into the face, and there was no paint. I would like a new set, and have found many with interesting designs, but I have doubts as to the absorbency of a coaster with a layer of paint on it. Wouldn't the moisture pool up on the paint?

If I am a HOA member in good standing and the HOA is unfairly applying the CCRs can I do anything? They send me notices and fines for things that the board members themselves are in violation of. The HOA is out of control.

Please Assume that the members cannot be voted off and they have indemnity clauses in the HOA contract.

there is a young guy living in the apartment above me and he is constantly blaring his music to the point that my furniture actually vibrates, we spoke to him twice about it then the third time i rang his landlord who had a word, but it keeps happening, it is during the night time from around half 11 to after 2am, however on tuesday he came home for a party at 3am and partied all through the night they didnt leave until after 8:30!!! so i contacted his landlord again, and he had a word! again!!

he has apologised again and left his number so we can ring him if it happens again, but am i wrong in thinking that i shouldnt have to ring and tell him off, he should know!!!

i mean my partner starts work at 3am so you can imagine what its like being kept awake until the early hours of the morning with his partying.

It appears so old that it is a natural fiber base like jute or something. Its not plastic like newer carpets. It just radiate grossness and id imagine there are ancient bactieria living within it. We are about to move out and i don't even want to clean it and subject the new renters this carpet i feel the owners should replace it.

My dad's birthday is coming up. He LOVES to garden, especially to work with flowers. But, he lives in Las Vegas. He is quite successful despite the arid climate. I thought he might appreciate a magazine subscription about gardening in the desert or in the southwest. Does anyone know of anything like this or how I could track one down? I'm looking for something that would focus on something other than "desert landscaping" (i.e. cacti and rocks) but would show adjustment for planting times, etc.

I've noticed that the water in my house is drying out my eyes, skin, and hair as if I had been swimming all day.

I'm looking at installing one on my house and am just wondering if it will make a difference. Are they expensive to maintain? Should I test my water first? Did you notice a difference after they installed theirs? Anybody got a product review?

Any info much appreciated!

I just don't get how the people on ABC's extreme home makeover can afford the taxes on their lavious new homes when most are down on their luck. Prizes are taxed as income. I would think an extreme home makeover would qualify as a prize winning.

We're getting ready to build a pool with moss rocks and weeping walls. We have a ton of pine trees around and they always coat our cars, the cement, etc with pollen.

A coworker of mine says he had a pool with moss rocks on the side and they were a pain to keep clean and when he washed them all the pollen would wash into the pool and get the pool nasty. Well, my wife really wants those rocks and weeping wall. So I'm looking for more opinions on this. Is it really going to be that nasty?

There's an onion that has been cut in half by my girlfriend, but wasn't placed in a sealed bag afterwards.

So it's hanging out with the potatoes in the fridge, and it's got a few sprouts, the longest being almost 3 inches!

Now, should I leave it and let it sprout some more?

And how can I plant it or raise it to grow my own onions?

Can we expect new growth to be vigorous? Shall I cut off the withered ones? Or leave them intact? I am an organic gardener so I will not be using anything but compost and mulch (which surrounded it nicely and would have protected it I thought!!, but these were horrendous April frosts 3 in a row. ) Ah well. Luck of the draw!

Ok, dummy here. I live in NC, and for one week we had weather reaching 80 degrees. So, like everyone else, we all ran to the store and bought garden vegitable plants. Not knowing we were in for a hard freeze the following week, two of my tomato plants wilted over. Will they come back? Any answers will be greatly appreciated.

I always thought that it meant that the wall or fence was owned by both (or all) the properties that abut it. If a neighbour says that he is going to replace all his fencing (only one side of which abuts our garden) with a certain type of fencing that is completely different from what we have on all the other sides of our property, what is our position? Do we have a right of veto? Even if this neighbour says that he is going to pay for it all, and we couldn't afford to change it anyway?
