Go to a flooring store and ask to look at their remnants. They often have big pieces for way cheaper than buying it off the roll.

Or Big Lots and Roses both sell it in 6x9 rolls for somewhere around $10-15. Of course, this is lesser quality stuff and won't last as long as a remnant of a higher quality flooring.

You can do it yourself. Look for linoleum adhesive in any hardware store or hardware section of somewhere like Wal Mart. It's not difficult. The biggest issue will be piecing it together if you end up with more than one piece and making that seam be smooth and the pattern lined up. Ask someone at Lowes or Home Depot for advice.

Check your phone book for Salvage stores. I have also bought things at Habitat for Humanity outlet stores and saved big bucks.
