This layer is yellow and it just will not come off no matter what I've tried to do and the trim paint that we put on just 2 years ago is just peeling off in stips, so nothing is sticking to what ever this is either. Any ideas about how to either get this stuff off of the wood OR how to get the trim paint to stay so that I don't waste another gallon of paint and more time than I care to even imagine? I'm at wits ends - I just want to make it look nice and not have to be redone again in less than 24 months

Thank you for any insight and help!

I desperately need to vacumn the spiderwebs and dust in my unfinished basement, anyone know where they still rent shop vacs and is this the easiest way to do the job? There isn't a ceiling in the basement (exposed beams & plumbing), so it's a constant battle with the "webs" each time I go down to do the laundry. I am a cleaning fanatic, except down in the "dungeon".

I am absolutely fuming!! We had a large display cabinet left in our house by the previous owner. It was in good condition, made of good solid and ornately carved wood, all the lights worked etc.. the only thing was a bit of varnish wear at the edge of one of the shelves that could easily be repaired by someone who was 'handy'. I must have rang round about 10 different charitable organisations to try and donate this, but they all said 'no'. The last one I tried, said yes, so I mentioned the varnish wear and offered to send a photo, but she said 'oh no problem, it'll be fine'. The bloke turned up at 2pm (after someone waiting home all day from 8.30am, although granted for something else too), and said he wouldn't take it because of the damage!! WHAT!? Ok, next time I give something to someone for FREE, I'll make sure it's a Louis XIIIth sideboard or something that has been in bubble-wrap for the last 100 years and is in no way marked or damaged shall I?

I'm so mad about this...

We picked one of the smallest sofas in the shop 'cos the others are all the size of campervans, and they STILL couldn't fit it in the house!! Now we've got to get the bay window removed to fit it in!! Has anyone else had this happen?

I was told I would get a quote for kitchen cabinets from Direct Buy once I receive a special invitation. I was not informed that I would have to buy a $4549.00 membership nor that I would have to sit through an hour sales pitch. Upon doing as the sales men told me to, I never did get my quote to compare if the membership would offset the membership fee enough to make it work it.
My question is, say I saved 30% off cabinets that Home Depot quoted $9,000.00 for. The savings would be $3000.00, but I will now have to pay for delivery. I could not get a Direct Buy sales person to give me a quote when I knew exactly what I wanted.
Isn’t this just taking the profit away from local retailers and giving it to this company? Instead of shopping around for a good price and taking the item home when purchased, isn’t this paying upfront more money than I would save for the inconvenence of waiting for my purchase and paying for shipping though I still have to pick it up myself?

I have a eggshell finished wall and I had to touch up a few spots. Looking at it directly, it matches perfectly, with sunlight, it is drying where you can tell I touched up. Will it dry evenly and be unnnoticeable? Or do I have to redo the whole thing?

Elapsed time - 1 hour since touch up.

I looked on Amazon.co.jp, but they don't ship those items internationally, and niether do any other japanese site I've looked at, and JLife International's prices are terrible. I'm looking for a cheap set between $80-$100 + S&H (which is about how much they are in japan). Does anyone know of an importer, or site that ships internationally?

I teach kindergarten and am about to repaint my classroom. I was thinking about a bright color on each wall, but someone suggested that I didn't want to overstimulate the students. What colors do yall think? Also I have someone willing to paint a mural on one of the walls? What pictures, themes or characters do you think the kindergarteners would like? Boys and girls both.

Home depot gave me a qyuote and claimed their best vinyl windows were better than Andersens? I heard differently from a contractor. I would be doing about 15 double hung and 2 bays. Also, is there a good wholesale place to buy these if I wanted to install on my own?

Hello everyone. I get two different answers from people and wanted to ask on this forum. I needed to paint the inside of my house and also do the flooring. I thought that it would be better to paint the house first and then do the flooring, but others are telling me that I should do the flooring first because the newly painted walls would get dirty if I did the painting then the flooring. Can people who have experience chime in. Thank you!

I'm wondering if a grey or even a black toilet seat would look fine on a white toilet. I don't want a white toilet seat. I have a bathroom that has small black & grey ceramic floor tiles. The ceramic shower tiles are white with smaller black tiles running horizontally at eye level. The toilet, tub, and porcelain sink are white. The sink counter is a greyish marble. The bathroom hardware (towel bar, etc) is silver.

My house is one of those trailer / mobile home type things like the palm harbor homes. The ceiling is cathedral style with a cool wood pattern and the cabinets are wood. The kitchen wall paper screams mobile home, so we want to paint it, but I'm sick of white and tan, and our old house had too much green so we don't want green either. We're thinking blue, but I'm not sure about it. Any suggestions for colors or at least shades of blue?

Thanks!

I have recently moved into a home which is outdated with old gold wall paper and just ugliness. The entire house has a "rustic" feel to it, as there is real wood panneling (not shiny) that is very dark throughout. Its a good sized home at 3500 feet or more. I would like to know how to paint and what colors and what to decorate with in this house. Specifically the dining room, which oddly enough is the entry room from the front door. There isn't a lot of wall space, as its mostly in the dark horizontal wood. I have a few pieces of wrought iron wall decorations that are black, but I have considered painting. The floor in the dining room is hard wood. The trim in the room is dark wood, just plain boards. Any thoughts? I'm sort of stuck here.

I've got all black furniture in my bedroom/office, which chrome accents on little things such as door pulls and dresser drawers.

I just need to decide on a color scheme for the walls and other coordinating colors (such as bedding and wall decor).

Any ideas?
