ok, well target sells a set of 4 bed risers for $15, you set your bed on them, they make your bed 6 inches higher, and then you can buy underbed boxes to stores clothes and stuff in.
Otherwise check the newspaper classifieds for used waterbed with drawers, and put your mattress on it.

When I was younger (a couple years ago), my mom bought both me and my sister new white twin beds for really cheap from Kmart with drawers underneath. The corners were a little sharp, but they were a great buy at such a low price. I've also seen beds with drawers underneath at searsroomforkids.com, but I can't remember if the price was too high or not. Hope this helps! ♡

I don't know where you live but go on craigslist.com and see if your area is served by this internet service. Locals list what they have for sale and in LA it is a fabulous way to find things from those who are moving out of state! There is also a site to list things that you want to buy. You might consider buying an old waterbed with drawers under (many of them had this feature) and putting your regular mattress on top of the platform of the bed. Good luck!

Water beds often have drawers under and are often thrown out, but they work great under a regular bed too. Check garage sales and thrift stores.

Check at places like Goodwill, Habitat for Humanity, and other second hand place stores in your area that sell furniture.

Instead of drawers etc., have you considered building it in the style of a futon? Hinging the panels above the platform (where your matress will rest) and using the entire inside of the platform base for storage?

Ikea definitely has that because I have seen the Ikea ones on sale on Craig's list.
