What wall paint would go well with wood cabinets, wood ceiling, and tile floor?

My house is one of those trailer / mobile home type things like the palm harbor homes. The ceiling is cathedral style with a cool wood pattern and the cabinets are wood. The kitchen wall paper screams mobile home, so we want to paint it, but I'm sick of white and tan, and our old house had too much green so we don't want green either. We're thinking blue, but I'm not sure about it. Any suggestions for colors or at least shades of blue?

The color depends a bit on the tile floor. Light colors set off the wood by making it stand out so the obvious choice would be a white, but you're sick of that so think about if you want warm or cold colors. A very light blue that borders on a slate or grey will let the wood stand out and still be blue. A purple (with a red tint in the same light blue) would give you a somewhat neutral field where the design elements of your cabinets would show rather than the colours. An orange or red would blend everything together well, but you may want to consider the effects of color on perception of space.

Some colors that are dark make a wall fade away. Blacks make people look thin and they can make some rooms look bigger, but unless you have a very large room they tend to merely make appliances or furnishings stand out. Whites are so common that we stop noticing walls unless we stare at them. Even with cabinets, a white will give the impression of size and space.

If you have very little space around your cabinets then a darker color may have the effect of receding the room and making it appear bigger. In that case a warm color would be preferable (IMHO). If you have a tight squeeze then stay with the light colors.

So I'm voting a very light blue.

If you really want to warm your kitchen up and take away that mobil trailer look, go with a very warm gold, almost a beigy gold, not loud or brashy. Blue is nice, but it is considered on the color wheel as a cool color, so I would go with that warm gold as you said you want to warm up your kitchen. Then put nice accents such as a canister set, maybe a ceramic rooster, around on the counter top with warm gold, green, russet. Then on your window, I would do just a nice valance picking up the colors in the kitchen. If you are handy and can sew, go to fabricguru.com. Gorgeous fabrics at very low prices. That depends on what color the wood is. If the wood is dark, go with a light color, such as a light shade of blue or apricot. If the wood is a light color, then reds or other bold colors would look great.

I would take a material swatch of the colors of your kitchen fabrics to your local paint store and find something that way.
Believe it or not, even whites come in different tones/shades. Therefore, you can even miss match whites in your decor!

If you have a table cloth, seat cushions, a color in your dishes you want to carry through your kitchen, take it with you to the store. You won't believe the choices you will find!!

I have done this in every room of my house and it works every time!

If wood is a light color, go with medium hues - turquoise, smoke blue, cornflower, periwinkle.
If wood is dark, try warmer hues - dusty rose, peach, lemon, custard yellow, pale gold.
