Home depot gave me a qyuote and claimed their best vinyl windows were better than Andersens? I heard differently from a contractor. I would be doing about 15 double hung and 2 bays. Also, is there a good wholesale place to buy these if I wanted to install on my own?

Most homebuilders in our area are using Capital. Great vinyl window for a good price.

Anderson is a great window, Capital is a good one as well. I have worked for 3 window companies as a service tech. Trust me when I say this, you dont want to go cheap as you can on windows. Take your time and do your homework. There are about 350 window manufacturers out there. Some are good some are fantastic and some are crap. Do not install crystall windows ever. Atrium, Lincholn, Pella, Marvin, Anderson, Capital are all great windows but they have differant levels of quality as well, get the most expensive ones you can afford. It sounds crazy but trust me the quality is worth it in the long run, and dont pay extra for argon gas its not worth the extra expense.

I had Window World do my house. I have 21 windows, including a bay and a 12 floor length ones. They sent out a crew and within one hour they had all the old windows out including the storm windows and the new ones in. It them took them 6 hours to do the aluminum work around the windows and clean up.

Good windows and a fast job. No complaints. I don't know if they are a national chain or not.

Milgard is an excellent window. We've replaced many of our "standard" windows with their double hung Quiet Line windows and the standard double pane. The Quiet Line blocks out almost all sounds and although a bit pricey, they're absolutely worth it. Their standard windows are awesome too....Home Depot's don't even compare in quality.
Good luck with your choice..

We like Andersen's.

Our neighbor just put Andersen's on their house too.

But I'm sure there are other good products on the market nowadays.
