I listened to the flooring first and then walls against my better judgement. I wound up with a really time consuming job of trying to totally cover the flooring (which I still wound up with paint on the floor somehow) trying to manuever the ladder over the new flooring without scratching/ruining the plastic covering, and the aweful task of trying to get the paint all the way down to the seem of the floor and wall. Please, save yourself some time and effort and paint FIRST! :)

first I am a gerneral contractor. Cover the floor! If you can't move everything out of a room, place it all in the center and cover with painters plastic. Use latex paint. If you are going over a dark color with a lighter one, plan on at least two coats. One gallon should cover about 300 sq ft. Depending on your walls, use a 3/4" nap roller cover. The shorter the nap the smoother the finish. So if you have smooth walls use a 1/2 nap. If you have orage peal or knock down use the 3/4 nap. Mask of everything you don't want to paint, but don't leave the masking tap on too long. Remember that the masking tape is there to help keep the paint off, but if you paint over it too much, the paint may find its way under the edge. If you are looking to paint a general color to lighten up a room use a color like Rodda Paint's Popcorn. It tends to refect the color of the items in the room. flat wall is the easiest to paint, but is the hardest to keep clean, where semi gloss is a little harder to paint, but is easier to keep clean. If you are not sure about something ask someone at your local paint store.

This question doesn take some thought. First I would respond by said paint the inside of the house first. However if you are removing carpeting and base board you may have to concider what you are replacing them with. Size and height. If you are going to go with tiles or wood you will be replaceing your old base board. So I would still say interior of the house should be painted first but before you start the floor finish up the walls on the bottom.

Dependent upon the type of flooring you are considering. If you are going to be putting down a new subfloor then put that in then paint, then the finished flooring. If you are just covering the existing flooring with wood laminate or tiles then paint first

You should do the paint first because painting is messy. You don't have to worry about covering the floor and such. Dusts will settle and will not stick on the paint once it is dried. The contractors suggested it to me when I remodeled my house. Good luck!

Paint first. Then the paint that hits the unfinished floor is no big problem (even with tarps).

I'd still paint the walls first...If the paint is completely dry, it will wash fine if it gets dirty..The floor with paint on it is a crap shoot...you don't know if it come completely off!!
