I'm moving into an apt with white walls and we're not allowed to paint or use wall paper. I cant live with white walls, boring! Besides posters - how can I apply color to the wall but still be able to take it off when it comes time to move?

Our house has a very long living room/dining room combo with white ceramic tile. The walls are a light brown color with a white vault ceiling and dark wood center beam in the middle. There is a stone fire place in the living room. Does anyone have some decorating tips? We like dark wood and antique looking furniture. We also have pets so we can't have anything expensive.

My parents will be going out of town for 10 days in two weeks. We're all practical jokers, and I'd love suggestions on how to mess with their head a little for when they get back. Like rearranging pictures, etc..any ideas? Thanks!

I am redecorating my room, and it is on the small side. I have no clue what colors to paint it. I know that I do not want blue, red, or purple. Anything else I am open to. I do want three walls one color and then another wall be the focal wall with a seperate color. Any ideas or any good places where I can check out samples? Thanks!

We are looking to purchase a new home, and one house we found has gorgeous wallpapering in it. While I love it, I don't want the house to look totally dated by the presence of the wallpaper! Is it possible that it is a "newish" thing, rather than just old?? It looks like the paper itself is in perfect condition--perhaps recently hung. I realize it's ultimately up to us--what we like or don't like--of course, but would like the opinion of others. I wouldn't want our beautiful new home to look SILLY! Many thanks!

I am using 3 different colors in my daughter's bedroom. her comforter is striped with whites, green, and medium blue. I want to use the same colors on the walls. Any ideas as to what pattern to use? She wants some walls striped. OMG. I am trying to come up with something less complicated unless there is any easy way to do that. Seriously please.

I want to put hardwood laminate floors in my house but I have two dogs that occassionally may wet on the floor. One is old and the other is just scared of bad weather. I would like suggestions on a good brand to purchase and any experiences you may have had with the same type problem.

Hi. I need help thinking of color schemes for my new kitchen. There's one wall of exposed red brick along the side, older wood cabinets that I'd like to paint, a cream colored countertop, and a honey-colored wood floor. What a mess, right?! Any thoughts? I've thought about painting the brick and the cabinets a neutral cream-color and then accenting with one color to pull it all together, but I don't know if I want to cover the brick, it adds so much character. Eventually, I'll replace the cabinets with something more my style......

I have a 3 metre x 3 metre x 75cm pool in my garden.
Its one level, and tiles inside and out. However, it is leaking.

It has NO plumbing, NO filters, NO inlets/outlets... its just like a great big tiled box.

I have used tuffmix pool puty on some obvious bits where grout is missing, and where bubbles come up where I tread, and all seems fine, but the whole thing is covered in tiles 15cmx15cm... It would cost me about £25K to coat every joint in epoxy pool putty, so I was wondering if there is another way??

Is there some see through rubber pool paint? or a latex fluid I could coat the thing with that wont cost me my house?

It was supposed to be a bit of fun, which has turned out rubbish. So much work has been involved, and I really want a quick inexpensive solution. I cannot see evidence of where any leaks are... but there must be lots of them....

Is there something like RADWELD for pools??? That would be cool...

Any ideas folks?

i am moving to a studio apartment. its pretty small, and i cant imagine fitting both a bed and a sofa comfortably.

i have thought about getting a sleeper sofa but they are generally uncomfortable. i have slept on air mattresses for extended periods of time and that gets annoying after a while. lastly, i dont like the way daybeds look.

I painted my kitchen last year and I'm growing tired of the color now. You can consider it either a light gold or light mustard-yellow. My kitchen isn't big at all so instead of painting the whole thing over, I thought I'de try a fun technique such as rag-rolling or sponging. Any tips on how to do this? Which colors should I go with? I'm assuming it would have to be colors in the yellow family - how many different shades should I use?

My living room is substantially smaller than most of the rooms in my 100+ year old home. I am at a loss as to how to arrange the furnishings! No matter how I do it, it just looks cramped and crowded and boring.

The room measures 10' by 20'. All I have in the room is a sofa, sofa chair, side table, coffee table, and the entertainment center.

The design of the room makes it hard to turn the sofa at a diagonal, because there is a large archway to the dining room at one end, and a staircase at the other end, my front door on the one side, and entry to the hall on the other side.

Are there any good design websites that you know of? Or what would you suggest (i.e. getting rid of some of the pieces or replacing them)?

Thanks!!

I have a huge blank wall with really nothing on it. I had this great idea of starching fabric of silloutes of people to it, but I don't want it to leave behind a mess when i take it down in a year or two (i rent). Have you ever done this before and know if it does leave a residue? do colors bleed onto the walls? is it easy to clean?

Do you have any other ideas of what i could do to display silloutes of ppl that wouldn't cost too much money??
