I am redecorating my room, and it is on the small side. I have no clue what colors to paint it. I know that I do not want blue, red, or purple. Anything else I am open to. I do want three walls one color and then another wall be the focal wall with a seperate color. Any ideas or any good places where I can check out samples? Thanks!

1] consider green, yellow or peach. Paint three walls a pastel shade of your color, then paint 'focal' wall a bright shade of the color [ mint green with jade, butter yellow with lemon, peach with orange ].
2] get a print or second solid for the bedding, windows, and throw pillows.
3a] if focal wall is for bed - pick a painting, design, or pattern for wall, or in a picture to put over bed.
3b] if focal wall is for art, etc., try to frame pix in similar color and material - oak or walnut, brass or silver, a dark enamel.
4] put up a mirror [ framed like pictures ] opposite the window, or over large piece of furniture.
5] if all furniture is same material or color; and accessories are limited to two colors and your 'frame' color, your room will look coordinated, finished, but not tiny.
6] add at least one potted plant, even if it's fake
7] add lamps, vase or flowerpot, candles, dresser set or desk items in color one or two.

ok... when u say small room.. how small.? 7 ft x 7ft or 12 x 12...? that kinda makes a diff b/c 7 x7 is small... 12 x 12 is kinda average.

Sooo what r u'r likes? Look around the room. What things in u'r room do u like .... a LOT?! Is it funky? Is it POP? Is it bright? is it red or orange or what? Is it retro? Or mayb 70's...? That will also determine the type of colors to go on u'r walls. U don't like blue/purple or reds... sooo how bout creme & orange w/ orange accents/decor or add brown accents. OR if u want funk... 70s... Orange/yellow & pink... u could do the walls a hot pink w/ u'r accent wall either orange or yellow w/ like the other color w/ waves thru out the wall jst about 3/4 way up... then add pink w/ it as well. It would bring it all together. Same w/ other colors.. but u could do stripes or squares--or circles or diamonds...

Then use accents colors of u'r less colors for pillows, covers/curtains/ etc... Even find a print/design w/ the colors or 1 -2 of the colors in it for pillows or shade covers.

B Creative & have fun~

Green is a great choice because you can easily mix it with neutrals such as cremes and browns. You might do 3 walls in a lighter green -- something substantial, as opposed to a pastel. And then one of the walls in a darker green. If you put your lighting on or near that wall, it will brighten things up.

www.shermanwilliams.com has a great site where you can color different walls in a bedroom, kitchen, bath or living room. Go to Color Visualizer and you can select from 4 bedrooms. They show the same setup, but the furniture is in varying wood tones in each of the rooms. You can pick the one closest to the furniture you already have. Have fun! The great things about small rooms is they don't take too long to paint.

With a small room try to stay light on the 3 walls and go with your gut on the other. Pittsburgh paint stores and Loews has a "what color do I like CD" Try em out
