My cabinets and floor are light oak, counter top is black and tan specks ( granite looking) and my appliances are all stainless steel and black. Ceramic backsplash is taupe. I wanted a berry color but all seem to be too dark.

I'm really into pirate stuff, and I thought it would be really cool to have a room that showed it. The problem is, I'm on a very small budget (basically I have to pay for it with my own money) so I can't get one of those custom pirate ship beds or anything like that. What are some low-cost things to do to my room to give it a pirate theme? What kind of bed should I get, since I can't afford a fancy one? And what kind of dresser or other clothes storage? Or, any suggestions on how to paint wooden furniture to make it look pirate-themed? Thanks :)

We had a leaky faucet that caused water damage to the sheetrock behind the kitchen sink. We put in a new faucet and are now planning to tile over the soft sheetrock. Is this o.k.?

I have tiles that go all the way around and up from the counter top on a wall in the kitchen. I would like to just have about 4 rows of nice tile and have drywall to continue upwards. What do I do first and what do I need to watch out for?

we are remodelling our house and have removed vynal floors and carpeting. Not sure what to do with the baseboards - remove before installing tile or leave in place. If we remove them which will make it easier to install the tile (don't have to be perfect where it meets the wall), then where we have left the carpeting, the baseboards will not line up. Any suggestions from someone who's been there and done that????????

I would like to add a bathroom in the basement. The problem is there is not vent stub out. I plan in putting in a sink, tub, and toilet. I also plan on having a utility sink and a bar sink. These are on the oppisite side of the house. There is a vent that is attached to the upstairs tolet that is accessable. But, I don't think I can use that because the toilet upstairs is above all the sinks downstairs. Also, it is about 30-40 feet away from the basement bathroom. What I was thinking of doing is putting another vent NEXT to the vent that is attached to the upstairs toilet. Then connecting the basement with the upstairs toilet vent in the attic. The vent in the attic is a 4 in stack that goes to the roof. The upstairs toilet attaches to that. Am, I on the right track? The basement is pre-stubbed.

We are looking into costs of either brick and block or timber framed houses.
Finding land is proving quite simple, but we need to know the costs of having the house built.
Any help or information gratefully received.
Thanks

I want to purchase a cheap chandelier to use for my wedding, but I don't want to actually wire the thing to the ceiling, I just want to plug it in to use for the night. Is this possible?
